Is the food in your cookbook (which looks terrific by the way) Canadian food, or American food?

Also, what is Canadian food? (besides the obvious, canadian bacon and beer)

So let me get this straight. You don't say "aboot", "eh" and you don't drink beer? How do they let you stay in the country? LOL!

I'm trying to sweet talk Paddles into a trip to Algonquin in the spring.

Serious as a heart attack. It's only about 10 a 10 hour drive and I've always wanted to go there. The only question is...by land or by sea?

well I am 4 to 5 hours driving from the park - so where does that put you geographically (sorry if I already asked this and forgot). Also would you backpack or paddle? The backpacking is great but the paddling there is even better.

You might want to wait until summer or make sure you go real early in the spring (before Memorial Day) because the blackflies are horrendous (to say the least). We completely avoid these regions from end of May until end of June. If you are hiking in the park anytime is good - but if you are paddling - the ice doesn't usually go out until the end of April.

Here is a report from a trip we took Tobias on. Be sure to have a laugh at my expense when you read the last day.

Either way you travel through the park is great. Just remember it isn't true wilderness and any of the trips starting in the Highway 60 corridor will be busy until you get past the first set of interior campsites (or the first few portages).

I'm part of the steering committee that is going to be representing the Algonquin recreational user (http://www.outdooradventurecanada.com/aprua) because this area really has my heart.

Goodness - never get me talking about Algonquin - I could rattle on all day. I've done all but one corner of the park (which is 7725 square km).

guess I am just used to that - nice thing is when it is hot you can just jump in the lake and cool off (only thing - do a leach check after - lol)
