GoLite Stuff
Some of the GoLite stuff has caught my eye, but I don't hear very many people talk about it. They have some softshells that really appeal to me. Any of you all use it or have friends that do? What's the consensus?

Some of the Go-lite stuff appeals to me too - but the shells (and the sleeping bags) I've seen don't seem as functional as competitive stuff - like the Precips or the Red Ledge stuff.

Some of their packs look really good.

Someone look at the Den 2 tent and tell me if you think it is freestanding. It is a hoop-type tent, 56 oz. I don't know enough about tents to be able to tell. I've only had experience with one tent so far.

Snow and I have the Golite Trek packs. She and I spoke about it and both agreed that we loved them.

I have one of their hooded coats. I think it's called the Coal. One layer of Primoloft insulation. Whole thing weights a pound. I've used it down to 32 degrees around camp and I was plenty warm, and I'm a very "cold" person.
I also have the old type Breeze and Day packs. Both are great.

I recently picked up one of their Reach jackets and it looks pretty good, at ten ounces. But, despite record rainfall here in April, we've been very luck on the trail and I haven't given it a real test yet

The latest Mountain Gear catalog has a down jacket by them for, I wanna say, $50?

Seemed like a really good deal and it weighed under a pound.

the Den is not freestanding - you have to stake out the head and tail ends in order for it to stay up. looks like a minimum of 3 or 4 stakes are necessary. saw a couple of 'em at the ADZPCTKO this weekend and they looked pretty good.

i'd like to try their packs, too, but i can't justify spending the $$. saw a lot of them this weekend as well.

I have the golite trek, it is pretty large, but seams not to have enough support.

As of today I have not tried it out of fear that it will bug the heII out of me. I really don't want to go on a backpacking trip with a pack that is not comfortable.

I have a golite trek pack - I like it. The belt works fine without padding for me, but might not for everyone.

Too expensive for me!
I like their gear and would invest in the whole package if I had more dough! Unfortunately I don't so I usually buy cheap stuff on clearence at Campmor.com and have never been disapointed with my selections. I go light and cheaP!

Oh by the way their packs are great as long as you pack light. I usually do, but I choose my pack based on the fact that sometimes I want to hike with my wife and carry most of the gear to ballance out our pace. The GOLight pack can't handle a heavy load.

I got the Kelty Flight pack for it's changability! And they discontinued the pack so sorry you can't have mine :)

I was thinking about the Trek after seeing wingding's last October. It seems like the amount of weight is very important on hip belt comfort.

GO-Light Speed
I got a "Speed" for Christmas and love it. I keep my weight between 18-22 lbs. This has forced me to look at the gear I carry in a more critical manner. But, I know it pays off on 20 mile weekends.

Backcountrygear.com has the Jam2 on sale for $85.00. Sounds like a good deal!
