For the last couple of years Lynn Cheney(wife of Dickybird Cheney) and Bill Bennett(both of whom were part of the "Culture Wars" of the Reagan years), have been working with the authority of the U.S. government to re-write history as it is taught to American children.

They are trying to teach the good things about America's past while denying the rotten things.

I have always thought the history is writtn by the winner. Whoever that winner is gets to write his version of what history. After that it comes down to who buys that book. There are text books that cover all the topics that have been discussed. Each of us can not educate the whole world, but each of us could run for the local school board and have thier say in which books to buy for the school system. Me personally, I could careless about Elementary and High School. They taught me how to read and write (not spell). I "learned" from my parents, from College and traveling. That is exactly what I am going to tell my two girls.”

The term "brainstorming" has become the latest target of political correctness, according to a charity.

Trainee teachers are being told to avoid the word for fear of offending pupils with epilepsy. Instead they are being advised to use "word storm" or "thought shower".

However, charities working with epilepsy say "brainstorming" is not offensive. "We had several inquiries from teachers about it so we did a survey of our residential home," said Gemma Baxter from the National Society for Epilepsy.

"We also contacted people with epilepsy in the community and the overwhelming response was that 'brainstorming' implies no offence to people with epilepsy, and that any implication that the word is offensive to people with the condition is taking political correctness too far."

People found it more offensive that the question was being asked of them, she said.

The Teacher Training Agency said it was not responsible for the suggestion that students avoid the word.

"We are responsible for overseeing the general quality of the courses provided by universities and colleges and we don't get involved in the minutiae of what they teach."”

I think part of your problem is that you aren’t comprehending the actual subject here that I started. It’s not about school education. It’s about censorship and influences from special interest groups on textbook censorship. Not about rusty playground equipment. I started this thread because I DO CARE. I am not responsible for others taking it in a hundred different directions.
