What will they teach our kids?

“I heard a discussion on the radio about the state of text book censorship. Apparently the text book publishers are so bombarded by special interest groups on all levels of the political spectrum that the publishers are forced into self censorship to a ridiculous point. Some words that are banned in major text books are…

Founding fathers
Lumberjack
Housewife
Crazy
Insane
Any word with “man at the end such as craftsman, postman, ect.

Other things that are banned are pictures of George Washington Carver because children allergic to peanuts might be upset by it. You can not show African Americans living in a city setting. You can not display Asians as intelligent. You can not show a mother cooking for her kids. You can not show the elderly as sickly or using a cane or walker. No pictures of dinosaurs because it brings up the evolution debate. The list goes on and on.

I do believe that some correctness is needed but we are being driven into ignorance by political correctness! Especially where history is concerned we need to teach our kids the good, the bad, and the ugly. I found one short article but there is much more out there on the subject.

I hate Bill Maur and think he's an ass but I had to agree with him that there is a new trend he called "patriotic correctness".
