We all have that one trip that we are allways talking about it. You know, the one that was the most difficult you have done and you brag about it all the time???

I have already started to distort the truth about what happened on my last trip. I came (literally) face to nose with a ferocious raccoon and survived.

I will be on Oprah next Tuesday.

And the trip where Pennsy and I drank from the tainted spring, and it gave him an uncontrollable urge to go around whizzing in springs.

FYAO III for me also. Minus 19 degrees isn't for the faint of heart. That was truly a very, very cool experience (pun intended).

Not really. I'm not sure I could measure .285 miles. I know its 1504.8 feet and my steps are 2.6' each. That would be 578.77 steps. I'm not sure that's accurate enough.

CMB, we're talking about #1, not #4.

I told my family and my boss that I am going to do this and if I am able to do the whole thing that I may not go back to work and just backpack for the rest of my life. There are lots of reasons for this but it is going to be the crossroads of my life and when I get to it I hope that it all works out and that my friends and family will understand that the wilderness is when I want to die and that I am going to sell my house and just have a way of getting buy but just as long as I can backpack ya I know I am crazy but thats the way I want the rest of my life to be played out on the trail in the wild where life is the best and most care free.

Walking down the trail during a windy day and notice a big owl sitting on a tree that had been blown over. The owl had its back to me, it appear to be watching something in front of it, and I walked right up on him and poked it in the back. It just shrugged its shoulders so I poked it a little harder and it just rolled its head around and looked at me and flew off.

don't have a backpacking fame to claim. I did rim of the gap in november when everything was icy as a solo hike. is that worth something?? do I get a couple of points for that?
Some say that this trail is pretty darn tuff to do, speciall for a girl (hey, that's what they said!!)

Approaching my intended campsite I was dismayed to see two tents already set up. Bummer! I thought we would be alone.

Upon getting closer we see four women without a stitch of clothes on sitting around their tents.

Of all the times to have talked my wife into backpacking with me....

Many moons ago, I got down on the ground to get a pic of a mischevous raccoon. To get his attention, I unhooked the wide braided camera strap & jiggled it. Well.....he came nose to nose with my camera & stole my camera strap. He scared the s$## out of me and I never saw him or the camera strap again.
