“Junior year hit me like a ton of bricks. Everything just got gradually harder and then BAM! Junior year was twice as hard as sophomore year.”

“Depends on where you go. I had some friends who went to Purdue. The upper level classes were always full, so the administration purposely made the freshman and sophomore years extremely difficult so as to weed out the herd.

That's better than what I saw at UAH, where sometimes people didn't find out they couldn't cut it until they got to their senior courses and everything was over their heads.”

Actualy, I've made that choice tonight. I got my bid for the biggest house on campus. I'm so excited. Pledging will be a #&%!$ and cut down on TT time, but oh well.”

“Ice - Not all fraternities are the same and not all chapters are the same. Try to look below the surface before you accept a bid.

My fraternity experience was awesome and really made life in Flint, Michigan bearable.

“ditto what Phil said - it depends on the guys and how they approach it. It should be one of the best experiences you'll have - and you'll end up with friends that you keep in touch with 30 years later.

“Perhaps it's my anti-social personality, or perhaps it's just because I went to a small school, or maybe it's even because I was older than most of the students I went to college with, but in my experience, fraternities and sororities are a complete waste of time, and detract from the learning experience.

Suffice to say that one of my rules for my kids when they go to college is that they may not join a sorority or a fraternity if they want to keep getting my money.

Sorry if this offends anyone, but I just don't see how placing yourself under another hierarchy of control over your life can be beneficial. College is tough enough without having to spend time doing stuff completely unrelated to college work.”

“I agree with bitpusher. I don't see how joining a fraternity could possibly help out ice tea, unless one of his brothers wanted to help him with grammer and spelling. Heck, maybe they'll even edit his papers and take the burden of the TT community.

Maybe ice tea should spend less time pledging and more time on studying and be better off for it.”
