Alright - that's depressing. At the very least they went astray by trying to act like a corporation - at worst... yikes! I hope there are no leeches in the system there.

Hey, great stuff. Thanks for alerting us to this. I still think the TNC is a good organization. I hike some of there preserves here in Michigan. But, geez, gotta get rid of the weasels. They certainly don't seem to be endangered.

Hey, don't be talkin' trash about weasels because of those guys... !

Any time the cash begins to accumulate, people like that crawl out from under the nearest rocks to glom onto it. It reminds me of Pat Buchannon and the Reform Party.

(and the attorney in Kurt Vonnegut's God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater)

I can only speak about a cluster of land the Conservancy preserved in northwestern NJ. The sales that I examined were all at market prices and the land would have been developed without their action (probably sooner than later). What I walked was very nice property for hiking. I hope these stories force them to get their act together.

Go back the Post daily.

It's a series of articles recounting a history of shady deals and fraud schemes.

If a private company pulled the same stunts the officers would all be in prison. But because these guys paint themselves 'green' everyone rallies around them and investigators look the other way.

A crook is a crook whether you agree with his motives or not.

Sorry Gordon, but Ken Lay is still a free man, am I wrong? Your point about "if this were a corporation" isn't completely true.

Takes nothing away from the fraud that THESE guys perpetuated, but it doesn't mean that they're recieving special treatment.

As far as I can see, there is not any convincing evidence that any laws were broken - so the Enron analogy won't work. If there were laws broken, they should be prosecuted as if it was a government agency or for profit business that broke the law.
