I am new to the area, just graduate from Purdue University and now I work in Dayton, Ohio. If anyone knows of any upcomming hikes or anyone want to go hiking and they live in the area give me a shout! p_m_weber@hotmail.com

Wow a Boilermaker! Congrats on graduation. I’m in Piqua about 30 miles north of Dayton. There is some great hiking in our area. My favorites are Clifton Gorge at John Bryant St. Park in Yellow Springs, Glenn Helen Nature Preserve in Yellow Springs, Sycamore State Park in Bellbrook, Taylorsville Damn Preserve up in Huber Heights, Englewood Reserve in Englewood and Buckhorn Trail at CJ Brown Res. In Springfield. These are nice day hikes. If you want to find other Ohio packers check out this Yahoo group…

There are quite a few from our area there. Here’s a page I have on my web site for Ohio backpacking…

Other great stuff in Dayton is the Air Force Museum, the Oregon District, River Scape, The Write Bros. Bicycle Shop, the Dayton Dragon’s base ball, Dayton Bombers hockey, on and on. ActiveDayton.com is a good source for what the city has to offer.

Boilermakers here also, but live in California. If you want to get some altitude, come out west for one of our Sierra hikes (visit the Trips page).

Where are you from and what was your major?

We had a KDR chapter there. It was a nice road trip. Ohio kinda sucks hiking wise.

Nice meeting you.

Hey, watch it Chips!

Hi pelorus, welcome to the neighborhood. I'm north in Michigan. Look for trips from the great group up here. We allow the ohio folks up, except for Chips. =)

This Cincinnatian would not say the hiking sucks. There are some nice spots. Hocking Hills, East Fork, Red River, Shawnee, Zalski. The Buckeye Trail.

We have a few places for a one nighter. There is no elevation, but we got the land.

Hey Bear, Have you done any of the Buckeye trail?

I've done a ton of the Buckeye Trail. I've been a member of the BTA for years. I was down in southern O. working on a trail relocation just today. Go to www.buckeyetrail.org for details.

Hi Woldsister! How's it going? Done any good fishin' this spring? I went to Deer Creek the other week and caught my first saugeye and my first white bass. Of course both put together didn't amount to 14". LOL! Hope to hike with you again soon!
