Astro Pic o' the Day from Tuesday

"As Colby Navarro worked innocently on the computer, a rock from space crashed through the roof, struck the printer, banged off the wall, and came to rest near the filing cabinet...."

Jeesh, home repair every hundred million years. I hope they have insurance for that.

Cool. So, he's good for another hundred million years.

It's good to get those kind of homeowner repairs out of the way early.

Gee, I really hope he had that pesky "random projectiles from outer space" rider on his homeowners insurance.

If it was me, I'd be telling the reporter... "That piece of crap printer deserved to die! It was Divine Intervention!"

OK, I wish I had read the thread before I posted to it. Smiley Girl, you and I have to stop posting the same stuff. It's really starting to freak me out.

He didn't get hit, did he? I think the only recorded instance of someone actually being struck by a meteorite occurred in Sylacauga, Alabama, in the 50's sometime.

Hmmm...I haven't seen the documentation for awhile and I don't really feel inclined to wade through a Google search on it but a woman was struck in the head and killed by a meteorite near Lansing Michigan during the 70s.

Maybe the woman I'm thinking of was the only one to be struck and survive...

There was a guy in Italy, too, I think. He got off easy, though...

He was in his car and it came through his windshield, ricocheted off the dashboard, hit the steering wheel and broke his pinky finger.

Then he sold the rock to a local university for like $50,000.
