It's been snowing all day here at the 6500 ft. elevation in Kings Canyon NP. 3" so far. Looks like it's going to be a late start for backpacking over passes this year. It's going to be a wonderfull wet and green summer though. Mosquitos might be thick. I'd invest in Mossi protection!

I am really bummed...
I love the snow, love to snowshoe, wintercamp, etc., but enough already! I'm beginning to think it's NEVER going to stop snowing & we'll NEVER have another summer BP trip in the Sierra. Sheesh, in most years I would have had 2 or 3 trips planned by now.

and I was worried about water being a problem for our Memorial Day Weekend trip to Olancha Peak. I guess that's not going to be a problem this year.

I'm thinking I'm going to need snowshoes on my "low elevation" Chilnualna Falls trip Memorial Day weekend.

Mammoth got 1-3" yesterday and it was still snowing today. In Apriluary Mammoth got a record 90" for the month (previous record was 84"). Snowfall for Maybruary is 10" so far. The snow has been great! When will I find time to backpack??? At this rate I won't be ready for Sierrapalooza.

Since 2/3 of the mountain is closed, I'm getting a little bit of hiking in to get to the better snow!

Woke up this morning to crystal clear blue sky. 5" fresh Powder. Absolutly beautiful!

Supposed to reach the 80's in the valley this week end, so it won't last long.

Oh yeah. Alpine Meadows is still open until the end of May. Oh yeah. Gonna be hitting the slops next week. Got more pow today. I'd prefer that spring come already as I am tired of the rain but for one more killer day of boarding? I'll put up with it.

And the snowshoing is still killer as well tho my cheap-ass shoes are blowing out :(

You said it Rosey! Heading out right now to carve some turns on this fresh pow before it's gone. The sun is out, the snow is melting off my roof like a river. Lots of sunscreen!!

Oh yeah!
