It's not the setback - it's that .40 is dangerously overpressured!

but not really

Actually....
Most folks (even trained) in a gun battle DO NOT KNOW how many rounds they fired. Most will empty their weapon in serious #&%!$. You should count them (especially with a revolver) but most folks will 'click' away when lead is flying back. Why some depts limit the number of rounds in a given magazine.

I saw a great quote today...

I'm going look at a gun tonight. It is a Browning A-Bolt Medallion .300 WSM with a Leupold 3x9x50 VX II scope. I've always wanted a high quality magnum rifle. This package is mint for $600. I don't think I'll be able to pass this deal up. I've looked over a lot of balistics charts and the .300 Winchester Short Magnum meets or exceeds the performance of the long cartridge well proven .300 Win Mag. The Browning A-Bolt is a proven quality gun. The rifle should be adequate for any game in North America.

http://media.browning.com/video/wmv/abolt.wmv

The Leupold VX II scope should be adequate for my shooting skills, the main thing is their lifetime warranty is rock solid.

http://www.leupold.com/products/Info_VX-II.htm

THE LEUPOLD FULL LIFETIME GUARANTEE
If any Leupold Golden Ring Product is found to have defects in materials or workmanship, Leupold will, at their option, repair or replace it. FREE, even if you are not the original owner. No warranty card is required. No time limit applies.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Too bad, that would have been a great deal for the gun itself much less the scope.

PS: The .300WSM is almost identical to the 30-06.

I bought one of the XD's before Springfield bought the rights to them, before they were known as XD's. Back then the XD was called the HS2000 and imported by Intrac Arms of Knoxville, TN. A buddy of mine had gotten one and done his own torture testing and had glowing remarks for it. The only difference is the XD has a slightly beefier extractor.... though I have yet to have a problem with mine. Even better Springfield decided to cover all those HS2000s with their warranty, really above and beyond the call on their part IMO. I grin every time I see an XD knowing I paid about half as much for mine.

None, but I'm considering buying a tank, however with the recent rise in gas prices, I may have to rethink that one.

Gander Mountain Offers Exclusive Line of Firearms for Women
Retailer Encourages Participation, Promotes Firearm Safety

ST. Paul, Minn., October 29, 2007 - The latest craze for the hunting enthusiast is now in a bold new color pink. In addition to the traditional firearm hues, Gander Mountain stores are now selling an exclusive line of firearms that come in the hot new color for all things outdoor.

While the male sector of the hunting community may stick to more muted colors, the new pink firearms have been welcomed by those who want to add a feminine touch to their shooting practice.

Women are a growing segment of the outdoors customer, and we want to be able to offer them the products they want, in the colors they like, said Gary Buescher, Vice President for Hunting and Firearms. A 20 GA pink shotgun first hit the shelves last year and sales were strong enough that Gander Mountain decided to add a wider selection of pink firearms.

In addition, Buescher notes they are seeing more and more girls attending hunter safety courses with their parents.

Girls are actively participating in family hunting traditions, but some may want to have a little more fun with it by getting a pink shotgun, said Buescher. The junior shotgun offered is made specifically for the young beginner, while the pink pistols offered are for adults.

Gander Mountain, with 115 stores in 23 states is the number one retailer providing firearm safety courses. To find out more about classes offered at your local store, see www.gandermountain.com

For those looking for their own new pink firearm for the fall hunting season, Gander Mountain currently offers a selection of five exclusive pink firearms:

Remington 870 Junior 20-Ga. Pink Shotgun
Remington Model 597 22LR with Pink Laminate Stock
TAURUS Millenium Pro 9mm Semi-Auto Pistol
TAURUS Millenium Pro 380 ACP Semi-Auto Pistol
TAURUS Millenium Pro 32 ACP Semi-Auto Pistol

The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting.

I am sorry Chicago....but what exactly were the "militia" in the 1700's?

Let see....common people, farmers etc, with firearms. Infact the first "military" we had (militia) was unable to stand against the British Reds in set place battles since their discipline was so ragged.

How many times in our history have common average armed citizens been called on, or even deputized to protect the local community in the absence of exsiting military forces.....

My biggest question is WHY is it that Liberals and big government people see every original amendment in the Constitution as something to Protect the Citizens from the Government EXCEPT the 2nd Amendment which they read as allowing the Government CONTROL over the Citizenry?

A pink gun could go a long way in the court room when having to prove you were justified in defending yourself. Who would believe someone who uses a pink gun was looking to hurt someone? And if you used a lisp while on the stand and was found guilty you could claim sexual orientation discrimination for your basis of an appeal.

XL400236,

You described exactly why I said the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting.

Attaching the idea that the amendment is to protect hunters rights distorts and limits the scope of the amendment. Furthermore it distorts peoples understanding of the founders beliefs and intent on the subject.

Even a casual read of the Federalist AND anti-Federalist papers would reveal that the intent was to protect the right of every person to have the common tools for defense of self and country.

Putting on blaze orange and killing birds in a staged canned hunt as a show of support for the 2nd amend. is an insult and shows a lack of understanding of the amendment.
