we had a problem with a large theft of four very expensive mtn. bikes several weeks ago. the tweeker then showed up at my door when i was alone and wanted to give them back because he suddenly realized we knew where the bikes were after he posted them for sale on craigs list and we reported him to the police. the police would not come to my home after he left and promised to return, unless he assaulted me first.

Ok, so my opinion on guns has moderated considerably over the past few years - but can you gun nuts give me some idea of what goes through your mind when you hand an eight-year-old an Uzi to play with?

This is the bit that gets me......

Bizilj told the Boston Globe he was about 10 feet behind his son and reaching for his camera when the weapon fired. He said his family avoided the larger weapons, but he let his son try the Uzi because it's a small weapon with little recoil.

"This accident was truly a mystery to me," said Bizilj, director of emergency medicine at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford, Conn. "This is a horrible event, a horrible travesty, and I really don't know why it happened."

It happened because you put an Uzi in the hands of your child you #&%!$wit! Your fault bud!”

“There was a similar incident in WA years ago, but with a handgun. The girl must have been unprepared for the kick back and killed her boyfriend at the shooting range.

I'm was looking at a Ruger SP101, shoots .38s and .357 rounds, but it didn't feel good in my hand. The S&W that is similar felt better.
