Does anyone have any experience with the Browning BLR? Specifically I'm looking at the Stainless Takedown model in a .308. It seems like it would be a good fit for where I hunt. Short enough to carry through the thick stuff, but still able to make that occasional 150 - 200 yard shot. http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=003B&cat_id=034&type_id=015” 2:04:19 PM 11/20/08 “No experience with that one (looks like a Marlin XLR) but why a takedown model? Most Brownings have a good history.” 4:19:15 PM 11/20/08 “Well I'm not 100% sold. I know Browning has a good name. The BLR has a removable box magazine, which I like. I like the takedown model because it would be easier to clean and also would make it easier to pack for backpacking hunting trips. I'd probably lean more to a fixed barrel if they offered one with the stainless barrel and pistol grip.” 7:25:52 PM 11/20/08 “I would LOVE a Browning BAR Long Trac in .270. Simply gorgeous. ”5:29:52 AM 11/21/08 “Zac, take a gander (mountain) at the Thompson Center Pro Hunter. It's a single shot but sometimes ya just gotta step up and be a man. :P Here it is in a muzzleloader: ![]() last edited: 11/21/08 5:33:14 AM” 5:40:09 AM 11/21/08 “x” 9:39:04 AM 11/21/08 “My experience with the standard BLR is that it has no accuracy. Maybe it's better now.” 10:04:09 AM 11/21/08 “NC, I'm trying to go shorter than my Savage model 170, not longer.” 12:04:00 PM 11/21/08 “There's one model of the Tikka/Beretta that is on the short side. They have a box mag and are good shooters. (bolt action) There's also the Remington 7600 pump. As for the T/C, I believe their basic Encore is still available with a fairly short barrel. last edited: 11/21/08 12:15:31 PM” 12:19:52 PM 11/21/08 “ ”7:51:18 AM 12/03/08 “401K in the toilet?? There's always the old .45.” 8:50:00 AM 12/03/08 “I don't have enough.” 8:59:50 AM 12/03/08 “I recommend a .22 as the weapon of choice for shooting chickens.” 9:14:41 AM 12/03/08 “I used to own Browning A-Bolts, had three of them, they are gone. Then I bought a .270 BAR, junk... It looked pretty with a Mossy Oak Duratouch stock but it couldn't shoot for crap. Now I have a Springfield Armory M1A that started out as a Loaded model but is now a National Match. I topped it with a Nikon Laser Rangefinder scope and it is simply amazing. At 500 yards I can put 3 rounds into a 3 inch group.” 10:32:39 AM 12/03/08 “No guns, but I do have a .38 bullet that was retrieved from under the seat of our car after it was stolen in November. Thank goodness Thinkbubelz and I were not in the car when it was stolen.” 7:46:20 PM 12/04/08 “Just ordered one of these the other day: http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=003B&cat_id=034&type_id=009 I'm getting it in the .308win. With a 40mm 3-9x power Nikon Buckmaster scope. Only 7.5 months until hunting season.” 1:13:49 PM 2/08/09 “When you gonna cook us up some wabbitt on one of those backpacking trips, Zac? I'm still waitin'......... 7.5 months? What will you do, play with hockey pucks until then?” 1:40:48 PM 2/08/09 “Ah... A classic lever. Very nice. Congrats. I know a couple who run a gun store and since the primaries they have been selling AR's and AK's as fast as they can get them in. Folks are certain that there will be Clintonesque gun laws imposed in short order, and are scrambling to get their hands on as much as they can afford. He told my Dad that he is doing as much buisiness in a single day as he usually did in a week. This has been steady since October!” 7:46:15 PM 2/08/09 “Yeah, I don't really care for bolt actions and didn't feel I really needed a semiauto. With the 20" barrel and only weighing 6.5 pounds, this is going to be a nice brush gun. The guy at the gun shop I ordered from told me the same thing with the AR's and AK's. Oh and MarkO, I thought the deal was if I kill it you were going to cook it. ;-)” 4:56:33 AM 2/09/09 “How hard can that be? Skin it and shove a stick up it's arse and roast it..... By the way, laws are not "imposed" in a democracy. If Clinton took away your guns, how come you still have them?” 5:09:17 AM 2/09/09 “since the primaries they have been selling AR's and AK's as fast as they can get them in. Yeah, prices have skyrocketed. On ammo, too.” 5:42:05 AM 2/09/09 “Economic stimulus?” 5:47:04 AM 2/09/09 “It's one of the few booming industries around. It sure must be galling for some (not necessarily you, Mark) of the more liberal TTers that electing Obama has already put far more "guns on the street" than any republican presidency would have. LMAO!” 5:58:58 AM 2/09/09 “I find it bewildering but not surprising that many would react so buying more of those type weapons. Only time will tell how "wise" such purchases are. If times get harder perhaps they can eat those assault weapons.” 6:11:17 AM 2/09/09 “"Assault weapons" sales are a very small minority. They are quite pricey!” 6:19:03 AM 2/09/09 “Have NRA dues risen?” 7:16:22 AM 2/09/09 “Looks like a neat outfit, Zac.” 7:39:33 AM 2/09/09 “Has t*lt ever answered the question of this thread?” 10:40:41 AM 2/09/09 “Nice pickup 'zac---and a great deer round too!” 5:59:28 PM 2/09/09 “Just picked this up tonight. My girls are gonna have a boat load of fun punching paper with this little beauty. I must say, it's flat gorgous too. The barrel is spiral cut with about 30 sides. It just glitters. The red white and blue stock is pretty neat too. http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAProdView?model=1178&return=Y” 8:25:22 PM 3/07/09 ““Have NRA dues risen?” salebored 7:16:22 AM 2/09/09 I hated to do it on some levels; but sending 35$ to the NRA and sending 30$ to the Sierra Club each year ended for me this year. After the Sierra Club and the NPCA sided against Hangun Permit Holders being allowed to have their weapons in National Parks and their e-mails were entitled "keep guns out of our parks" with no reference as to who would be allowed to have guns in the parks...(kind of slanted I think), I let my Sierra Club membership lapse and sent the NRA 1000$ for my lifetime membership. Now if I could only find a liberal tree hugging organization that supported the environment and 2a at the same time; I guess I would sent them a grand too.” 1:30:26 AM 3/08/09 “I used to have a Ruger 10/22 bolt in 22 mag. It was beautiful.” 3:13:44 AM 3/08/09 “Wish that I had a 10/22 or a mini-14, but have been concentrating on handguns lately.....at least with a 10/22 I could afford to shoot it.” 3:54:25 AM 3/08/09 “Magnum Research Desert Eagle Mark XIX pistol 44 Remington Mag, 6 inch, 8rd. Ruger Red Hawk DBL Action Revolver 44 Remington Mag, 4 inch, Rosewood Grips, 6rd. GLOCK Model 39 Sub compct pistol 45 Gap, Night Sights, 6rd Grizzly Bear collection” 6:18:59 AM 3/08/09 “I bought Birch a manlicher Rueger 10/22 for Christmas one year. It's a nice little rifle, very fun to shoot.” 7:18:06 AM 3/08/09 “I still have the .22 semi auto, 20 ga single shot and the 60 year old bolt action 30-30. They work quite well and I don't recall ever shooting something at 700 yards in brush country.” 8:12:04 AM 3/08/09 “BBill, Ruger makes a handgun built around the 10/22 action. It's bee-yoo-tee-ful! http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/FAFamily?type=Pistol&subtype=Rimfire Autoloading&famlst=63” 9:22:42 AM 3/08/09 “Booming industry?? The 10/22 is more of a SNAP than a BOOM.” 9:40:39 AM 3/08/09 “Two many, p-38 pistole and m-1 carbine.” 9:59:55 AM 3/08/09 “Bang-bang, shoo-oo-oot-shoot” 10:05:11 AM 3/08/09 “Hey! I'm a sure shot, the last time I shot a gun I did really well. That was only 51 years ago.” 11:34:51 AM 3/08/09 “Glock 29, Sub-Compat 10mm, 10 rounds I am considing a Glock 33, sub-compat .357 for everyday carry.” 2:28:51 PM 3/08/09 “I really liked my Philco 33.3 for long play and the 45 function was A-OK, but the 78 was too dang heavy.” 2:52:43 PM 3/08/09 “Suckit City is given the Philco 33.3 away for a quarter, one hour left.” 5:16:15 PM 3/08/09 “Has a Philco AM in the '70 Mustang.” 5:36:54 PM 3/08/09 “Philo Farnsworth And The Cathode Rays...........rock and roll.” 5:48:51 PM 3/08/09 “oops. 'had,' that is!” 7:32:28 PM 3/08/09 “You hadn't has nothin'.” 8:45:26 PM 3/08/09 ““Glock 29, Sub-Compat 10mm, 10 rounds I am considing a Glock 33, sub-compat .357 for everyday carry.” winddragon Nice selection; not a glock guy myself but been thinking about a 1911 in 10mm.” 9:35:14 PM 3/08/09 ““BBill, Ruger makes a handgun built around the 10/22 action. Guess I got one more on my list to get while the getting is good...lol.” 12:39:40 AM 3/09/09 Jump to Page << prev
