how many guns you got?

“I've been looking at deer rifles lately and hoping to buy a new one before the start of next season. Does anyone have any experience with the Browning BLR? Specifically I'm looking at the Stainless Takedown model in a .308. It seems like it would be a good fit for where I hunt. Short enough to carry through the thick stuff, but still able to make that occasional 150 - 200 yard shot.

“Well I'm not 100% sold. I know Browning has a good name. The BLR has a removable box magazine, which I like. I like the takedown model because it would be easier to clean and also would make it easier to pack for backpacking hunting trips. I'd probably lean more to a fixed barrel if they offered one with the stainless barrel and pistol grip.”

“There's one model of the Tikka/Beretta that is on the short side. They have a box mag and are good shooters. (bolt action)

There's also the Remington 7600 pump.

As for the T/C, I believe their basic Encore is still available with a fairly short barrel.

“I used to own Browning A-Bolts, had three of them, they are gone. Then I bought a .270 BAR, junk... It looked pretty with a Mossy Oak Duratouch stock but it couldn't shoot for crap. Now I have a Springfield Armory M1A that started out as a Loaded model but is now a National Match. I topped it with a Nikon Laser Rangefinder scope and it is simply amazing. At 500 yards I can put 3 rounds into a 3 inch group.”

I know a couple who run a gun store and since the primaries they have been selling AR's and AK's as fast as they can get them in. Folks are certain that there will be Clintonesque gun laws imposed in short order, and are scrambling to get their hands on as much as they can afford. He told my Dad that he is doing as much buisiness in a single day as he usually did in a week. This has been steady since October!”

“Yeah, I don't really care for bolt actions and didn't feel I really needed a semiauto. With the 20" barrel and only weighing 6.5 pounds, this is going to be a nice brush gun.

I hated to do it on some levels; but sending 35$ to the NRA and sending 30$ to the Sierra Club each year ended for me this year. After the Sierra Club and the NPCA sided against Hangun Permit Holders being allowed to have their weapons in National Parks and their e-mails were entitled "keep guns out of our parks" with no reference as to who would be allowed to have guns in the parks...(kind of slanted I think), I let my Sierra Club membership lapse and sent the NRA 1000$ for my lifetime membership.

Now if I could only find a liberal tree hugging organization that supported the environment and 2a at the same time; I guess I would sent them a grand too.”

Thanks for the info Nonconformist; I had seen those in magazines and even saw one locally here, but didn't realize that it shared the platform with the 10/22.....that is pretty cool. Guess I got one more on my list to get while the getting is good...lol.”
