South Prong Trail runs from a parking lot along FS19 at the top, where it makes a sharp turn from its uphill run to run along the Front, south along the Front, then turns right to head downhill, crosses FS 70, and runs down along the South Prong of Red Creek to rejoin FS 19 about where Boars Nest Trail begins.

For the second part of the Spring on the Sods trip, we will meet at the upper South Prong parking area, taking the leg that runs along the Front, then bushwacking along the Front to a campsite near the height of land on the edge of Roaring Plains. When are you heading there?

Thankyou much Geobeet. I rembember speakin with ya a while back. I'm from Huntington WV. I went to the wilderness area about 3 weeks ago. Very peaceful down on Red Creek, Just saw one group go by the time I was there. I would love to join your group but cant get the time then. I have done a portion of South Prong, but not all of it.Thanks again and Enjoy the Sods.
