check it out... 7:18:14 PM 5/10/03 Cool. “I wonder how many TT could get selected. Let's keep this near the top. Funny, I placed an order for a digital camera only minutes before I read this. Something made me select 2nd day UPS delivery.” 7:33:46 PM 5/10/03 “Veeeeeeeery eenteresting!” 7:37:15 PM 5/10/03 “What did you order Pathman? Inquiring minds want to know :)” 8:03:57 PM 5/10/03 The shame, the shame.... “I've been around Pennsy too long. Coolpix 5700.” 9:14:34 PM 5/10/03 “I almost ordered that one...My Olympus C-5050 will be here Monday :)” 9:28:11 PM 5/10/03 “Wow...wish I had a digital camera! This sounds like a great project :)” 9:29:20 PM 5/10/03 “I looked very closely at that Olympus. It was a tough call between it, the Coolpix and a Sony.” 9:30:47 PM 5/10/03 “I agree, In the end it was the $$$ that decided it for me. I found the C-5050 for $520 on the web. I have been a pretty loyal Olympus buyer since the 70's. I strayed twice...once for a Cannon and once with the Fuji I am using now.” 10:22:02 PM 5/10/03 “I really wanted the lense 8x optical zoom lens. The 9-72mm Zoom-Nikkor (equivalent to 35-280mm in 35mm photography) is an all glass optic that includes two glass-molded ED lens elements and Nikon Super Integrated Coating.” 10:39:31 PM 5/10/03 “wow , very cool WindWalker. Thanks for the link. I've registered...let's see if I get any pix picked....” 12:46:41 AM 5/11/03 “BTW, I have a Kodak LS443, 4.0 Mpx I really like it, great image quality.. http://www.bestbuy.com/Detail.asp?m=1229&e=11177733” 12:49:45 AM 5/11/03 “Waaa!!! I want a digital camera. I am still waiting for my pictures from last week's trip! You guys keep buying digital so when it's time for me to buy one, prices will keep dropping. Thank you.” 10:03:00 AM 5/11/03 “That looks like fun WW. Thanks for posting that. Good luck with your new Oly! Path - you're gonna have fun with the 5700. One suggestion if you have filters from your 35mm lenses: The 5700 lens does not have an internal thread to screw on filters. I picked up a 52mm thread adapter from Next Photo. It snaps right onto the lens and I can now use all my 52mm filters. More importantly, I used the adapter to immediately put on a UV filter to protect that expensive glass. Good luck!” 10:27:03 AM 5/11/03 “This is a huge project and very interesting. They're not just taking submissions from amateures there are also dozens of professional photogrpahers in every state shooting that week. My place of employement was selected as a full day photo shoot by a 20 year veteran of National Geographic who now teaches photojournalism at Indiana University. I work in the communications office at Saint Meinrad Archabbey and School of Theology in southern Indiana. We are home to 125 Benedictine monks and a five-year school of Theology. We also host Abbey Press one of the country's largest publishing houses for religious material and Abbey Gifts which distributes inspirational gifts around the world. It's a very interesting place to work. I'll be working spending the day with the photograper on this project. Very exciting.” 11:12:33 AM 5/11/03 “This is very cool. Thanks for the info WW.” 2:54:30 AM 5/12/03 “Good choice on the camera WW. Don't forget to get your Olycap: http://www.olycap.com/ Mine took about a week to come. Besides being a much more convenient cap than the peice of junk that comes with the camera, the thick rubber housing protects the lens. By the way, you guys feel free to enter the contest but I'm winning it. Just a warning.” 5:52:05 AM 5/12/03 “My Oly-cap came in the day before our trip :) Worked GREAT! Did any one submit photos to this??? I did!” 6:49:24 PM 5/19/03 “I will be posting my submissions tomorrow....” 7:34:38 PM 5/19/03
