The Trip That I'm Glad I Didn't Go On

“It's 3:40 am here in Nashville.

I was suppose to go on my first solo kayaking trip for a 15 miler out to a state park and then 15 back today.

I woke up just now to the sound of severe thunder and lightning and heavy wind and rain.

I'll have to say that I'm glad I didn't go.”

“yep it's been pretty wet down thar. I just got home last night to PA to met the rain up here. Mark and I could have used a kayak in the Smokies last week.”

“Yeah, We've been getting pounded with rain lately.”

“The high water would've made fer some killer kayaking though.”

“lol...i was going on flatwater. i think the campsite would have even been underwater.

Allthough, i could have tried hanging my hammock over open water for a chance.”

“we woke up and that cold front that hs been pounding us for 3 days with tornados finally moved through and it's like 45 degrees.....”

“I live fairly close to Binks and I have do idea what he is talking about. I went to bed at 2:30 AM and there wasn't any rain. It is a sunny day, 72°, light winds. I think he was dreaming that it was raining :)”

“I had to take the dog out at 4:30 and it was nice outside..dude you were dreaming ;)”

“I got up at 3:30 and went and rolled the windows up on the car and it was raining very hard and the wind was blowing, thuder and lightning.

Oh well.”

“I was in SE Wisconsin this weekend. "Mother's Day" for my mother-in-law. Tornado warnings and watches, and some severe thunderstorm warnings. We had lots of thunder and lightening, and little rain. It seemed to go north and south of where we were, but then at 2:22am the winds began to howl.

The trip home in the wind (25 mph wind and gusts to 50mph in rain was NOT fun!) Glad I wasn't out today. Managed a short day hike on Saturday in decent weather.

But I still wish that I could have gone backpacking this weekend.

I was going to paddle to Long Hunter State Park.”

“I woke up at 2:30-3 am to a little thunder, nothing like last Sun night/ Mon morn. Didn't even think about it till I saw on the news that High winds had done more damage in Franklin and Galatin (near Bbinkley) Fortunately only a few injuries-no deaths.”

“WOW!! it was a great storm last night!! was bpacking over in Montgomery Bell, our tents almost floated away! the best part was in the morning, we crawled out of our bags, and the sun was shining bright and the humidity was non-existent. what a gorgeous day it turned out to be!! couldn't have asked for a better weekend.”
