...But I need help!
For the most part, I have shied away from buying anything off of television. Recently, however, I purchased that freakin' 'Pasta Pro' thing off a TV ad. I needed a large pot at the time I saw it advertised and liked the concept of being able to strain using the lid. Figured, where can it go wrong. Well, the concept works fine, but both pots lost all the teflon within two months and now rust coats the bottoms. Back to my skepticism of TV purchases.

Yesterday, I saw a product that interested me. I want to buy a rotisserie. The was an info-mercial of this guy selling the Ronco brand item for 5 payments of 19.99 each. The ads are obviously staged very convincingly, so I did an on line search to find out if the product is rated well or not. Didn't come up with the info I wanted. Does anyone have a rotisserie or know enough about them to give me some help with my comparison shopping here?

I take that's a negative on that, Stove?

Go to the store and buy a recognized brand that'll stand behind their product. Sunbeam stuff sucks but they replace it everytime it breaks. =)

tree, do you guys have a balcony or someplace you could keep a gas grill? A rotisserie option is available for most all of them.
I would steer clear of Ronco products. Way overpriced in most cases.

That's kinda what I figured, Stove. No place for a gas grill. Matter of fact, I wound up having to give mine away a few years ago because I had no place for it. I want one for the kitchen now.

I don't have there rotisserie but I do have there food hydrator and have not been successful in drying foods. I have followed their pitiful instructions, called them and it still sucked. Of course it could be operator stupidity.

I saw one on line that George Foreman makes. Anybody know of this product?

Thanks, Ewk. I think I am going to shy away from Ronco and look for some positive input on another brand...

Also, read the fine print. Not only is the item over-priced, they hit you HARD for "shipping and handling."

Day Off!
A day off, so I can post early...(God being half way round the world sucks!)...

Anyhoo, there at home on the counter sits a Ronco Rotisserie, I have eaten many a meal cooked in it, and have had the dubious pleasure of cleaning it as well...It works, and is designed to make cleaning it easy...It has always worked as the TV Commercials represent it, I have no complaints. (Just read the directions...). LOL

One for your oven?
Maybe I'm dating myself, but some ovens (used to) have a Rotisserie for the kitchen oven. It was an add-on. Don't know if they're available now.

Did a little surfing and both Wal-Mart and Target websites carry the Ronco rotisseries. There S & H is bound to be cheaper than Ronco.

Depends on the size of the children!

Guess you've been reading to your grandchildren lately? :-)

the ronco rotisserie rocks...i love it and use it several times a week...i have numerous friends that use it also..and ive cooked just about everything in it...it's well made, and i haven't had any problems with using it or the vegetable cooker that goes on top of it..the shiskabob or basket attachment

So, you think it's a fairly well made machine then, Opie? I just was worried that maybe it would be one of things that looks better on TV than in person...

i "set it and forget it" and come back an hour later and have a hot fresh juicy lemon pepper chicken..the top (cook corn greenbeans) and sides do get hot..but it doesn't heat up the kitchen..and you can sit and watch the food spin for minutes on end. Ewker...our dehydrator and miss opie's works great. We got ours from a local walmart..but also found them at Us military AAFES for the same commercial price..just no S&H but you pay tax at walmart..but not at AAFES

The one I bought from them is probably 10 yrs old so hopefully Ronco makes them a lot better now.

I settled on one
I found a deal that gave me a freebie with it. I received the George Foreman 'Baby George rotisserie and they threw in a 'Baby George' grill too. It cost 100 bucks and after a week of cooking on it, I must say that it is great! The rotisserie is borderline in size (any smaller and it would be a problem), but you can get a 5 pound chicken or a good size roast in it. And the grill is awesome!!

My mother in law bought me a "Showtime" rotiserie about 5 years ago. I love it. I cook in it all the time. I have cooked a 14 lb turkey in it several times and some smaller ones many times. You never have to baste it and it comes out perfect. I cook a chicken in it at least once a week.

I've cooked roast in it from time to to time but I seldom do all that other crazy stuff he shows in his video.

Rotisserie, kayaks, ... ain't this all cutting into the fund you use to purchase judges? Or are they budgeted as separate funds?
