I am a Joe, but I must not be an average Joe as I am reading my 13 or 14th book of the year.

I would much rather read then watch televsion. If survivor isnt on the only TV I watch is while I am on the treadmill running (winter and bad weather days). Except of course sunday nights with the bride, but we watch really brainy stuff like the simpsons.

Stickman, don't worry about getting the kids interested. It's a breeze. Newergirl loves to read, even though her Dad hates it. She totally views it as a fun time. We read at nap time everyday and at bed time. She has alot of her books memorized now and she often sits w/ her baby dolls and "reads" the stories to them. I've been reading to her since she was born. I also made a rule when she was born that at every holiday and b-day I would buy her AT LEAST one book as a gift. I've kept that up and I've even got most of the relatives into it. At 2 and 1/2 she has a book collection to rival mommy's. One of the saddest things I've ever learned in my life is that close to 1/2 of 5 yr. olds entering kindergarten have NEVER, EVER been read to before. There are NO books in their homes and definitely not any children's books. When I give my little presentation to the horny teens about pregnancy, childbirth, and the first yr. of child development . . . I make sure to repeat that little tidbit and stress reading to kids. I think it is a big, big deal.
