“One problem, I can see right off the bat is that the lower shoulder strap attachment point is mounted right on the hipbelt itself. Mountainsmith used to do this and I built a pack this way and it doesn't work. What happens is that when you tighten your shoulder straps it lifts the hipbelt off your hips and puts too much weight on your shoulders. It's just too hard to find a balance between the two points when the shoulder strap is mounted there. Mountainsmith abandoned the idea and I gave up on it too after using it for a while and determining that it doesn't work well.”
