I've worked for Wal-Mart and know who they really are. They still suck.

So what was Tagert's reason? Not that they even need one.

there has been a lot of stink around here about all of the outsourcing Wally World does...one editorial in the paper said that less than 20% of wal marts merchandise is made in USA. Any thoughts? I hadn't even thought about it until recently.

H 2 O Ring for 20 oz or .5 L bottles

$1.94 at Wal-mart. Total weight is 0.5 oz, 0.3 oz just for the little carabiner, so replace that if you would like with an even smaller one.

It's a HYDR8R brand H 2 O Ring Bottle Holder.

Pull H 2 O Ring over bottle top using tab.
Make sure H 2 O Ring is entirely below cap and bottle ring.
Rubber ring should stretch for proper fit.
Attach carabiner to desired location.

I tried to shake the full Dr Pepper bottle off. It didn't come off. Pretty dang strong.

Neat gizmo!

SC, it will make a great water bottle holder clip.

It's for any 20 oz or 0.5 L plastic bottle.

Oh yeah, it comes in all kinds of different colors.

Spam is correct.
Any kind of 'camping type gear' I find in Wal-Mart will be in the camping section, unless I make a big deal out of it being somewhere else.

That plastic bottle is 500mL or 0.5L bearmagnetsmartybutt. ;-)

Nothing wrong with Nalgene, bear.

The 1 liter plastic bottle weighs 1.8 oz.
The 1 liter Nalgene bottle weighs 5.9 oz.

The plastic 'pop' type bottles weigh far less. For those of us that actually backpack, that makes a diference. ;-)

Wal-Mart does sell Coleman Brand nalgene material water bottles.

nalgene or coleman brands are both made from polycarbonate (a lexan type material). Both work just fine and the coleman brand is cheaper than nalgene. Go to Target and you will find the Eddie Bauer brands usually dirt cheap

I saw these in a gear shop, about three of four bucks I think, but I don't want something dangling about on my pack. I figured it'd get annoying after about 20 yards.

Also with those drink bottles, the last thing I want is a leak over my gear, especially when it's cold out.

Maybe someday I'll be a UL freak. Hopefully I'll recognize my problem and seek help.

i blew the top off my coleman brand fake nalgene bottle at hocking hills. i was shaking up my hot drink and kaboom! the lexan survived but the plastic top couldn't handle the pressure.

cool Stovey, as you know I have to always have a water bottle on me and that gizmo will make it easier not leaving the bottle in stores when I put it down to pay...it looks like it'll fit the little, 8 oz bottles I carry so I can attach them to my purse...

I've found that a nalgene replacement lid will work on a Coleman brand bottle, FWIW.

hmmmmm, the Nalgene replacement lid fits. How much does it cost? $2-3? Might just as well have purchased the Nalgene in the first place. :o)

Well, true, but it's better than throwing away a perfectly good Coleman bottle after the lid gets melted in the dishwasher...

My friends "Nalgene" bottle froze and slpit open on a snow camping trip this winter. Temps never topped 17 degrees the whole 4 days. I however was using the Eddie Bauer bottle and mine did not crack. I've got both brands and they work the same. In fact I fill them with boiling water to put in my sleeping bag during the winter. Never had a leak. I think any brand will occationally have a flaw. Just need to pre-test for conditions.

I picked up a pack towel at wal mart the other day for 3 bucks. It looked pretty good, but haven't tried it. I want my scouts to have a towel in their pack and tell them over and over "leave mom's bath towels at home". This might be a good alternative since it is so inexpensive. I'll test it out first.

Pack Towels?
The fake chamois they sell in Dollar Stores for washing and waxing cars are made from similar materal as the high dollar Pack Towels in gear shops.
Only $1.
I carry two or three with me every trip.

Hehe, just revisited this thread. That's OK ss. I'll track them down at my local dollar store(s). There are tons around here. It was a good tip, thanks. They are working on their gear lists and they have been told to fill it in with stuff that is as light and inexpensive as possible. I want to see what their fevered little teen-age brains cook up.
