Hanging stove?? MSR Acent?? WTF>>

Whats the deal. I've been checkin out MSRCORP.com and looking at stoves. THen I saw the superfly acent haningsystem. WHy would you ever want to hang a stove???

I'm clueless to this, please fill me in...

It's for climbers who have to camp on the side of the cliff, I think. They're camping in a little deal that's along the same principle as a window cleaner on a skyscraper, to kind of give you a visual.

MtnSteve or someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm actually not a climber, so it's just an educated guess from some of the stuff I've read.

StickmanWalking is partly right. It is for that but it's also for those occasions when you have to cook in your tent. Imagine you are climbing Denali or a peak with similar conditions and have to ride out a blizzard high up. You suspend the stove and cook in your tent cause you sure as heck aren't going to cook outside.

It's a good way to burn a hole in the floor of your tent, set your tent on fire, etc. There is also the issue of carbon monoxide poisoning and attracting animals.

If you must cook in your tent, best to do so in a floorless vestibule with adequate ventilation.

And make sure there aren't any bears around...
