Hiking Weekdays in PA

“As my regular days off are Monday afternoon to wedsday evening I do most of my hiking solo. Much as I enjoy the intelligent conversation the silence has been a bit deafening lately so...

who's up for some mid-week hiking in PA? I usually do 10 miles a day and I havent had a partner lost or killed in the last two years that any one knows about. I am LNT,LMH, and hydration compatable. Will do maintenace for company :}

“It's true, my husband just got back from Houston, and he said he was fine until he got to the airport and then he got all stuffed up again. My whole family is suffering, the kleenex boxes are emptying fast.

Hopefully it won't be this bad for a whole month.”

“I went for a hike the other day and when I looked down at my boots they were all yellow with pollen grains. You could smell it in the air from all the plants flowering. The wildflowers are nice though.”

“As I said im off from monday noon to weds. evening and with 2 or more shuttling is possible. That allows up to 30 miles of trail with two nights. I have done most of the bft and aft and all the local trails here so... maybe a section hike of the mid state would work(i have 95 map set). I can get week days off easily as there are enough people to cover it but weekends arent even negotiable. Since its just me I am pretty much able to go on an hours notice.

Any week, any trail :} did I mention that Im very easy to get along with....

Pollen season is done here in SE missouri...my purple rav looked yellow one morning...I had to wash it off before coming to work. Things are diminishing here on the pollen count. Have fun..allegra works real good.”

DOM, Did you ever hike the section of the mid state trail between Little Pine State park and Blackwell? When we were on the West Rim trail last year it looked like there were some nice mountains over there that would make for a good hike.”

“I havent gotten on any of the mid state. I know the mountain your refering to but the mst is on the other side of it. a large chunk of it runs on the ridge of tussey mountain.(then again if I had to navigate from memory, we'd end up in WV :}

the trail seems very section-able in roughly 20 mile segments. I will dig up the sections and post them.”

so long as we stay under 30 I can call it a weekend hike. Most of the trail heads are between 2 and 3 hours drive so a departure of 3pm on mon. would work well and a finish anytime on weds. is fine.

how does section 1, meet at southern trailhead us22 10am 10 jun , shuttle to pa26 and overnight back to us22 sound?

“I have to get out the PA map and look at the US 22 to PA 26 section. What do you use in the way of hiking map for this area?”

“I think that area is not far from State College. I did a bicycle trip in that area about 10 years ago, near Whipple Dam. June 10 is a Tuesday if I read my calendar right.”

“I have a problem with the Monday June 9, my daughter's class picnic. I already volunteered to help. I am sorry, I will really try to make the next trip.”

“That isn't looking good for me either. I'm signed up for the Pinchot trip that week. In June, unless it's the very end of the month, Monday's and Tuesdays are hard for me to make this month.”

“DOM, don't give up trying to plan a trip. I just found out yesterday that I would be tied up for June 11 anyway so I wouldn't be able to go despite the Pinchot trip. It's just a timing thing and June is looking a little rough for me during the week. Is it possible that you could go for Tuesday afternoons and beyond. That's a lot easier for me to plan around.”

“my normal days off are tue./wed. but i have to be back by 8pm wed. I can shift my days off a bit so long as its not a weekend involved.

“Good news! I passed the test and four damn interviews..all with the same company. The new tests are weird! they make you do the test in front of them and you both sign off negatives and positives before you leave the doc's. IT has five sticks that they dunk one says: Marijuana, cocaine, LSD, and the other two i didnt even know what kind of drugs they were. lol. I guess that means after a week of hiking I might test positive for oxygen...the new street drug that you have to travel farther and farther to import. lol”
