I bought a new pack

I bought a North Face Granite pack today. Nowhere on the pack or in the brochure does it say what the cubic inches are. Does anybody know? I went to the North Face website and the pack wasn't on the site. The guy at Galyans told me it was 4,000. I don't know if I should believe him.

Is this a good pack? I got a good deal on it. It was originally $129 but marked down to $99. I applied for their credit card and got another 10% off plus I had a $15.00 coupon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You could fill it full of water and see how much it holds.

Already tried that. It leaks.

Try putting all of your gear in it. If there's room left over, it's too big. If it doesn't fit, it's too small. If it fits OK, it's juuuuuuuuuust right!

Not trying to be a smart *ss
Did you try using the contact info on the North Face website to shoot them an email and ask them how big it is? That's what I usually do. It works pretty well for me.

I couldn't Google anything up. Are you sure its a NF, not a Marmot?

The only Granite I found is a Marmot daypack. It's at their website.

Actually, I found a couple dead links on some gear-finder sites. I assumed it's a discontinued model. I've never heard of it but I'm not a fan of North Face products so I haven't heard of most of their product line.

Thanks scully. I went to their site's contact information and they had no way to e-mail them with questions. They did however have a 1-800# which I called. The rep on the line said that the Granite was a special make for one store only. It is no longer produced. He finally found out after a 10 minute wait that the pack is 4,300 ci extended.

It's six o'clock on a Friday and we're posting to a backpacking website. Aren't you assuming we have anything better to do?

You're welcome UP. BTW, that last post of mine was entirely meant to be smart*ss and entirely directed to Free ¦ P .

You are right, Free. But unlike most trolls I actually backpack.

It's a shame about that 10 minute wait, but it was much shorter than the 24 hour turnaround I usually get on emails. I guess I just don't have the patience to sit on hold.

That's why I posted the thread. I didn't want to mess with calling or e-mailing if someone here could give me an answer quickly.

Thanks again skully.

Ultra do you normally buy packs without knowing the specs for it? I cant imagine buying one with out at least knowing its size and weight...just me I guess.

I knew the weight and I knew the general size of it.

I have a monster expedition/winter pack and a daypack and was looking for something in between. The pack was obviously somewhere in the middle.
