Check out the Adirondack Mountain Club's guides, particularly the 'Guide to the High Peaks' and the 'Guide to the Northville-Placid Trail'. They are available at EMS stores (or can be ordered).

There is also, 'Discover the Adirondack High Peaks' which has a better map that is also printed on Tyvek; the map can be purchesed seperately. The publisher is, Lake View Press, 339 Kasson Lake, Caroga, N.Y., 12032. EMS also carries this guide, but with the publisher's name you can order it from any book shop.
