He was fantastic in that vampire movie he was in; I recommend that movie. Has anyone seen the movie "don't be scared" or something like that? It's about a young boy in Italy that sees a young boy is being held captive in the bldg. It's been released that you can buy it, but can't rent it yet. I may see it in a threater that shows movies that are ready to be put out on dvd.” 7:37:17 PM 5/21/04 “"Sinderella" Chief, with a loved one or alone? LOL! I saw Paycheck with Ben Aflack and Umma Thurman last night. Very cool. I'm not into run of the mill action flicks but this was good. Reminded me of Momento.” 6:46:46 AM 5/22/04 “ ![]() "So many brains... I feel like a kid in a candy store!" 8:11:27 AM 5/22/04 “Turns out the movie I mentioned, "I'm not scared" or "don't be scared" whatever it is, has subtitles; it's in Italian. It's supposed to be a good movie anyway. Has anyone seen "The station manager"? I believe it's an independent movie out in video, but I can't find it. It's the movie with the "little person" (dwarf).” 7:44:42 PM 5/23/04 “REEFER MADNESS” 9:12:46 PM 5/23/04 “no wait, I think it's the "Station Agent". Either way, it's supposed to be good.” 1:41:23 AM 5/24/04 “Saw "Finding Nemo" this weekend, and man this is what large screen projection screens and DVD were made for.” 10:59:31 PM 5/24/04 Big Fish “though i don't think tim burton out did himself, i do think that Big Fish is a very recommended rental. exellent feel good movie with burton touch.” 11:34:48 PM 6/04/04 “I saw Monster and My Baby’s Daddy last night. Monster was a bit disappointing. The whole story focused on the two women’s love affair and very little on her crimes. I have seen the true crime documentaries about this lady and the makers of this film totally missed the boat on the most interesting parts…the actual crimes and their investigations. I can’t really recommend this movie. My Baby’s Daddy was great. Yes, it’s got the same old plot…three immature guys thrown into fatherhood and they screw up along the way but in the end they grow up and become great fathers. Call it Three Men and a Baby done ghetto style. The one guy (ya know from Kangaroo Jack) was the funniest. His having to deal with his Asian GF’s family was hilarious. The funniest line from the whole movie was, “Riquorish? What the hell is “riquorish”?” 7:15:17 AM 6/05/04 8:16:44 AM 6/05/04 “The ultimate Canadian comedy movie has to be 'Dogma'. My daughter informs me that it's part of a series. Ben Auchinleck (Affleck?) has been in them from the beginning. It's like a sick, weird 'Canadian Bacon'. I saw it on CBC late night TV and nearly had a heart attack watching it. I don't know if you guys down there are ready for it, though. (We're pretty weird up here, but we hide most of it from you. Once in a while one of our comedians escapes to down there, however.)” 9:04:54 AM 7/05/04 “I just saw it last week and LMAO! But I've Always been a big fan of twisted comedy --- maybe I'm part Canadian(?) It was great to see Bud Cort again (Harold & Maude)... but... George Carlin as a Cardinal?? LOL!! When I think back on all of the material he's done on the Catholic Church over the years --- Wow. and Alanis Morissette As God? LMAO 1024x!” 10:30:22 AM 7/05/04 “Dogma is very funny.” 10:31:31 AM 7/05/04 “Rented five DVDs this weekend (yeah, like I'm out hiking, NOT!). Best of the bunch... well, a couple. "American Beauty" was just strangely perverse... but good. "My Life" was a tear jerker. Geez, I must be on a dead-person movie binge! But most make you think and want to get out and treasure your life.” 11:43:32 AM 7/05/04 “You're just getting nto the Halloween Spirit a little early ---” 11:49:08 AM 7/05/04 “the deer hunter. awesome movie.” 1:25:10 PM 7/05/04 “The Deer Hunter... totally classic! De Niro IS God!!!!” 1:28:48 PM 7/05/04 “One shot....” 1:33:50 PM 7/05/04 “hell yea he is! so is walken.” 1:35:26 PM 7/05/04 “Christopher Walken looks like he is an alien! I liked him in Pulp Fiction, "I kept this watch up my @ss for two long years". Jon Savage is another great actor. Salvador was also an excellent movie with Savage and Woods.” 1:38:59 PM 7/05/04 “yea walken is kinda frightening looking, but one of the best actors out there.” 1:40:02 PM 7/05/04 Best Rentgal Movies “Anything with Pauley Shore” 2:58:31 PM 7/05/04 “If you happen to catch Walken on a Saturday Night Live rerun, stop and check it out. And what was the movie where he was abducted by aliens? It seems like he'd scare the crap outta Them! LOL” 3:06:01 PM 7/05/04 “It`s gotta be Johnny English with Rowan Atkinson. You Gotta love dry English Humour. Of course being English helps ...... Long live the Queen. pip,pip and cheerio.” 3:27:21 PM 7/05/04 “I like Walken. He is so creepy... and so funny at times, especially on SNL. I just watched the original Spidey-man movie. I think Willem Dafoe is starting to morph into Walken.” 6:49:28 PM 7/05/04 “Yeah, Willem's can get his creep on too, donchaknow ---” 6:52:11 PM 7/05/04 “Thanks for adding the "Fargo" talk, Tilt, up here in Minnie-soda I never woulda understood ya without it, uff da, eh?” 9:33:00 PM 7/05/04 “Lessee recently I saw: Cigarettes and Coffee (any Iggy Pop fans out there?) - the scene, mildly amusing Monsieur Abraham - just OK Amores Perros - HILARIOUS/RENT THIS! this film won international awards (although I have to add that my 60ish, June Cleaver type roomate thought I had rented the wrong movie and wanted to return it for me--it does start out a little graphic) btw, I tend to go for chic flics I'm holding to the The Station Agent being the best movie I've seen thus far this year--for some reason when I was watching this movie, I thought of nothing else!now that's what I call good escape Sass, I think we have similar tastes in movies” 10:11:02 PM 7/05/04 “Too many hours of Prarie Home Companion, Ya Know.... Too many imaginary pints at the Sidetrack Cafe, LOL Geee, Biz.... You're rooming with June Cleaver? <GRIN>” 10:19:16 PM 7/05/04 “PS -- the Weasel says 'hi'” 10:22:13 PM 7/05/04 “hi There are benefits, ya know. She does my laundry” 10:27:22 PM 7/05/04 “Does she iron? I don't think I've ironed anything since before the first gulf war -- LOL And the weasel is great company but she sux at housework.” 10:33:16 PM 7/05/04 “The Station Agent was relly good. If you liked that, not that there's any link, try The Triplettes of Belleville. The detail is amazing.” 11:48:47 PM 7/05/04 “So far this weekend I watched Cold Mountain. It was slow but such a great tail I hardly noticed. The battle sequences were astounding and I have never seen a movie show the real horror of 19th century warfare in this way. It was so damn depressing though.” 8:04:42 AM 7/06/04 “I tried to find the Station Agent in Hollywood Video 2 months ago, and they didn't have it as a rental. Did anyone see "Secret Window". I don't know if anyone mentioned it on this thread yet. I didn't really think it would be good. What's so scary about a guy plagurizing another guy's work, but there was nothing else to rent. I didn't care for it. I think it's supposed to be some watered down version of "The Shining". I won't explain why. I asked a friends what they thought, and they also said it was lame. OOPS! This is supposed to be the the BEST movie rentals, lol :)” 11:45:27 AM 7/06/04 “I tried to find the Station Agent in Hollywood Video 2 months ago, and they didn't have it as a rental. Nigal 08:04:42 AM modern warfire is so much nicer. it's great that we can just toss a couple of 2,000 pounders out there without having to get too close. how icky that must have been.” 11:49:13 AM 7/06/04 “Yeah, we need a new thread... "Why Video Rentals Suck!" LOL” 11:50:09 AM 7/06/04 “LH. the story was a little better in print, but still not one of his best. the whole multiple personality thing has been soooooo overdone the last few years.” 11:54:07 AM 7/06/04 “I think Sybil topped out at 12.” 11:58:28 AM 7/06/04 “the chick in 'when rabbits howl' had over 100 personalities. decent book, really #&%!$ty film BTW.” 12:01:25 PM 7/06/04 “I also got Bad Santa too. I saw it at the movies but wanted to see it again. Favorite line... "Well, today I kicked a bunch of 15 year old's azzes but I feel pretty good about it."” 12:05:09 PM 7/06/04 “Rented Mystic River this weekend. Man, Sean Penn can really act. Tim Robbins really did an excellent job, too. It was a fantastic cast w/ lotsa big names. And, an great story. And, just off the top of my head, here are some rentals I recommend: Igby Goes Down - I think "they" call this a coming-of-age type movie. I thought it was awesome. The Hours (if you read the book, you'll like it even more. if you read Mrs. Dalloway and The Hours, you just may love it.) The Good Girl - an interesting story about a dead-end life and opportunity. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind - Just plain good. Sam Rockwell was awesome. Oh and speaking of Rockwell, Matchstick Men was great, too. Steve Buscemi, John Cusak or Christopher Walken are all names that will draw me into most any movie.” 12:34:10 PM 7/06/04 “"Oh and speaking of Rockwell, Matchstick Men was great, too." PIGMIES!” 12:42:07 PM 7/06/04 “lol, nige! Cage was great in that movie, eh?” 12:47:56 PM 7/06/04 “I agree on Mystic River. After I see a Penn movie I always come back to saying, "And this guy was Spicoli?" He was also good in I Am Sam.” 12:53:09 PM 7/06/04 “Has anyone else seen Amelie? It's a French film with English subtitles. I highly recommend it...very fun, interesting. Saw Cold Mountain last night, thought it was good. I thought Rene Zellweger was the best in the film. Her character (Ruby, of course) made the movie.” 1:12:59 PM 7/06/04 “Yes, Ruby. I loved Amelie!” 1:20:21 PM 7/06/04 “sacco, if you just gave away *Secret Window* by mentioning the multiple personality thing, i'll murder you! well maybe not, but even if it's not great i still want to watch it just for Johnny Depp. ;-)” 1:22:13 PM 7/06/04 “what are you talking about? i've been asleep all morning. i just woke up.” 1:24:54 PM 7/06/04 Jump to Page << prev
