Want to go to the Smokys?

“I'm taking my 16 year old nephew backpacking on the AT in the Smokys from Newfound to Davenport Gaps June 12-15 (Thur night - Sun morning).
I have space reserved for four at Ice Water Springs (Thur night), Pecks Corner (Fri night), and Cosby Knob (Sat night) shelters.
I will have at least one and probably two spaces open for a TTer or two.
Want to go? If you do, we will meet at Davenport Gap and shuttle to the start at Newfound Gap late Thursday.
Since I'm taking a kid, I'll reserve the right to restrict this trip to active TTers.

In my trip planning I have been checking out your Smokies pics on your website. Great shots - they give a feel from a hiker's perspective (showing scenes from the trail) as opposed to ariel views etc.”

We are coming up the Big Creek trial and are staying at campsite 37 (I think) for 2 nights.”

Change "mile" to "about 100 yards."
And watch for the llamas at the intersection. That's right, they are now offering guided llamas backpacking trips.

Looks like it's just going to be my nephew and myself so I'll delete this trip from the trip page and call the park to give up the extra two shelter spaces tomorrow. I can't wait. I LOVE the Smokys.”

“Lyndy - My nephew is my favorite backpacking pardner. He's a good kid and a good backpacker.
Most of his gear is handmedowns from me, so he has a keen interest when I buy new gear. He knows he will get my good "old" stuff. Ha ha.”
