Me neither. I was thinking that maybe I could rent one and go kayaking with Mapleleaf. You all could take bets on who drowns first.

You'll definitely need a sprayskirt eventually. A pump to suck out the water inside the kayak. Neopene gloves or something similar when paddling in cold water. Have fun out there and be careful. Also, take a course or learn how to upright your kayak when tipped over.

Can I have a piece of that, Bit?

Good luck on the new craft, Strat. Have lots of fun with it...

NEW GEAR!!!!!!!!!!! It was a very generous offer on her part...but, little did she calculate the consequences of that act.

And to encourage that thought...here is a wonderful new website for you to explore... You will find everything you will need...Congrats and ENJOY!!!

Exactly! lol, You all are gonna have to draw straws to see who gets to use it.

DO get lessons. Doing it the right way, which is not at all how you'd expect it to be, will save your shoulders and arms, allowing you to go much further and injury free.

yeah, we've already discussed who's gonna ge to use it. actually, it solves a problem we've had on family trips. now we can have 2 people each in 2 canoe's and the 5th person in the yak. i'm not sure it's the flippy kind, but i think it is....so should i get a helmet and a PFD(i'll look like khatru)? oh, thanks for the link stikky, i'll check it out.

off to the real world.....

Okay, Mapleleaf, lets do the Round Valley Dunking! I've never been in a kayak, just a canoe, so Bitpusher may lose his money. Although the survival instinct is pretty strong in this newbie yakker.

ya can't take bucky in a kayak...
thats why I bought a canoe, so Khatru could come along. but after the last trip with him, I'd rather have bought a kayak...he whined and cried like a girl the entire time...I had to toss him overboard just to get some peace and quiet...I am going to work with him at nights on the local lake (errrr pond).
