Bivy Vs. TentView Messages“Minimalist bivy, the red one. it is pretty light, like 1 lb. My Bibler is like 1.5 lbs, but I really like it a lot. It was on sale for 60 bucks which is pretty damn good for the set of features it was boasting. http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=47975652&parent_category_rn=4500665&vcat=REI_SEARCH” 10:21:42 AM 5/25/06 “I don’t think I could ever use a bivie no matter how breathable they say it is. I had one of those ground cloths that is WP on the bottom and light silky material on top and even just that much soaked my bag.” 6:28:29 PM 5/25/06 “just not a bivy fan.. i need something I can wait out storms in and not be in a cocoon. the black diamond one is nice looking tho. I use an MSR Fling as my one or two person tent.” 10:53:32 PM 5/25/06 “I've had the REI minimalist bivy for a few years. I wish they'd had the long version available then, as I'd like more "wiggle room." Its proven to be waterproof and breathes okay as long as I don't zip it closed and make the mesh hold in some moisture. I use it with sil-nylon tarp and have a 2 pound shelter.” 11:40:32 PM 5/25/06
