I sold our big tandem in a private sale.

it was a Wilderness Systems Pamlico excel (new model is the 165T).

We bought it used 3 years ago for $600.

I sold it last week for . . ..$600.

Don't worry Ewk, the highest bidder is coming out from Grand Rapids next week to see it, and mentioned he'd have to get a rack. It'll go up at REI and on Paddling .net and will be gone before we know it! Birch'll get his new boat and if not we'll share.

Stovestomper, How do you like your new boat? Is the cockpit comfy, good seat padding? Adjustable seat? I am looking at the 16' version and need some input. Thnaks

birch - REI shipped it Tuesday and their tracking system doesn't work!
Going crazy!
I want to know where my yak is!
I want to know where my yak is!
I want to know where my yak is!
..and EXACTLY when I will get it!
LOL

I 'test drove' the WS Tempest 170 quite a bit. The local dealer did not recommend the WS Tempest 165 for touring with camping gear inside, which was the main reason for the new yak. The 170 was the choice for that.

I don't think their tracking system ever works for things shipped freight.

That's what I figured HPM.
I've found a couple of bugs on REI's website operations.

Looks like the Cumberland Island trip is a go.
If you decide to go, make your reservations before to long.

I think dealers think of camping gear as car camping gear, not backpacking camping gear.

I understand damage is not uncommon.

Stove, my kayak was shipped to me from Washington State. They way they wrap them up it is hard for damage to occur. Actually the kayak I bought was shipped from SC (mfg) to WA (seller) then to Tn without any damages

Memorial Day SOLO Kayaking Trip
Four days, 76 miles, On the Tennessee River, from Nickajack Dam (Just Southwest of Chattanooga TN) to Guntersville Dam (Guntersville AL). May do some nightime paddling, I'm running with outriggers and have a sail to augment the paddle, though the prevailing winds should be against me the whole trip. I intend mostly to run the main channel unless something attracts my attention and draws me shoreward, like FRIGHT! LMAO, Barge traffic and drunk power boaters fer instance (Might see how much attention I draw at the Bellefonte Reactor as I pass...My Special Forces past makes me curious to see if they notice and how long it takes to respond)... then there are large areas of Wildlife Refuge, and assorted side trips to recon any future trips on the feeder streams twixt there and here...

I hope all of you here at theBackpacker.com have a great weekend, and encourage each of you to remember the fallen; ALL of them, not just the recent Military AND Civilian, who have given their lives in service to the Nation...July 4th it will be 229 years worth of sacrifice.

OK - so these birds started building a nest between under my rudder. The kayak is hanging from the garage rafters. What the heck???? I shooed them away of course.

I decided my little Toyota Corolla would be blown around to much from crosswinds with my 17' yak on top so I decided to build a yak trailer instead.

Got a 14' light jon boat trailer yesterday and started the project. Removed all unneccesary hardware and am working on the yak supports now.
I'll post a picture when done, or y'all can see it at the dock in St. Mary's, GA in a week and half at the Cumberland Island trip. ;-)

It has 'Fox' in the name. I figured the Libs here would push me over a clift for wearing one, so I didn't look at it. ;-)
