“My clubs NTD event is going to be in Hoosier National Forest.We are going to be meeting at the Hickory Ridge trailhead at 11 am.We are going to do clean up's at all 3 trailheads and then we clean trail on the Grubb Ridge Loop.

“I just wrote a column on doing some type of National Trail Days type event in my area... see if I can garner some interest, in kind of a backhanded way. (I know, I know.... shoulda done this all BEFORE NTD!)

Also, I in my column, I asked readers if they knew of some land organization willing to come through with some bucks for purchasing land that includes beautiful wooded bluffs, a trout river and a bike trail. The land is now part of the County's "farm," and talks for selling it to the DNR -- and enlarging the surrounding forest boundaries to include it -- have not panned out. And the commissioners are more and more wanting to just sell to the highest bidder, which might put housing on the land. So I called for people to contact orgs. with money to buy it, or people with money to buy it and not develop it.”

I would like to humbly suggest that everyone here make an attempt to do more than just take a hike, do a little clean up or maintenance. Many hands make light work.”
