Okay, that's all.” 11:53:09 AM 6/05/03 “I read the first two. I was surprised at how good they were. I think she writes with incredible imagination...” 11:57:22 AM 6/05/03 “My wife's been reading the series to our kids. Unfortunately, the books get darker as Harry gets older, so she decided to not let my son hear some parts of the last one. The first two were very good though. It appears as if Rowling is falling prey to "Clancy's Disease", that is, the tendency for your later books to get longer, and longer, and longer, and longer...” 12:01:05 PM 6/05/03 “This one's supposed to be 700 pages, I think. About a month ago, didn't someone find two of the manuscripts in a field in Britain and turn them over to one of the trash tabloids there. I think they said they were going to keep it under wraps...” 12:03:00 PM 6/05/03 “I've read them all. I'll be reading this one too. Good stuff.” 12:03:47 PM 6/05/03 “We were going to get you a Nimbus 2003 instead of the fart cushion, Arty. We couldn't resist the Gas-B-Gon...” 12:05:14 PM 6/05/03 “My daughter made me preorder it about a month or so ago. She has read all the others.” 12:05:49 PM 6/05/03 “They were actual printed copies of the book, still joined in pairs before being cut and bound. IIRC, they also arrested an employee and a few other people who had set up a scheme to steal those copies straight from the printer.” 12:06:20 PM 6/05/03 “Didn't know that, Bit. Glad they didn't blow that. Ruining people's fun like that isn't cool...” 12:08:17 PM 6/05/03 “DORKS!!” 12:08:48 PM 6/05/03 “Yes, TB. Who'd a thunk a British tabloid would actually have acted in a ethical fashion? lol...” 12:09:54 PM 6/05/03 “Bit the longer books are by design. The story is supposed to mature with child and their abilities. Longer attention span = more pages bigger vocabulary = bigger and more complex words. more maturity = more complex concepts” 12:53:32 PM 6/05/03 “Oh, Treebait and I are fans. She's got her copy preordered and the local bookstore is having a midnight sale. My birthday is the 20th but I know she'll be thinking about getting her copy all day. Blow out the candles already! I got a Harry Potter book to get! LOL! I guess I should plan on not seeing too much of her on the 21st and 22nd.” 12:59:07 PM 6/05/03 “Yes Muggles, be certain to purchase the ridiculous tales of this troublesome boy, Harry Potter. Soon you will read only of my powers and how I will once again control all of the wizarding world! Join me now, before I destroy you.” 1:22:16 PM 6/05/03 “I just ordered it and amazon.com says its 896 pages.” 1:36:18 PM 6/05/03 “Order the book, my children, it will be a good one!” 1:46:12 PM 6/05/03 “Oh shut up, you sniveling swine!” 1:47:00 PM 6/05/03 “Should be a jolly old castle full of fun!” 1:48:38 PM 6/05/03 “oh, you magical types crack me up! i'm a Potter geek, too - can't wait 'til the new book! they really are clever - i was reading #2 last night (refreshing myself for the new one) and was so struck with the cleverness of the whole "Deathday Party" chapter. the Headless Hunt, the rotten food, the social lives of ghosts... so much fun.” 1:53:42 PM 6/05/03 “Aacck! Don't mention the headless hunt! Those jerks still won't let me participate!” 1:56:21 PM 6/05/03 “Im ashamed to say that I have not read any of the books. But I did see both movie's. I LOVED THEM!! Some day when I don't have a million and 3 things going on, I'll sit down and start to read the books. (may not be until 2006 when I'm finished school LOL)” 2:15:35 PM 6/05/03 “I think that new book is more like 900 pages long. And yes they get darker, but also more complex as Harry gets older. We didn't let our daughters see the last movie in the theater because we thought it would be too scary for them. The fourth book was too scary for my kids, lots of killing of people. But I am sure the oldest will be chomping at the bit to read the fifth one. I will read it first and decide if she has to wait. And yes, the imagination of J.K. Rowling is astounding. These books are a treasure.” 3:44:18 PM 6/05/03 “Maple, the movies are nothing compared to the books. THe books are superior in every way. Yeah, HPM wasn't too jazzed when I told him the release date for the 5th book.” 4:21:11 PM 6/05/03 “Oh yeah! I've got a copy reserved too. I probably should have reserved 3 copies though. I hope the "family negotiations" as to who gets to read it first don't disturb the neighbors ; ) .” 4:30:40 PM 6/05/03 “Pistols, 40 paces? Who gets the bye in the first round, Sauron?” 4:32:10 PM 6/05/03 “Yahoo, I can't wait! It's tonight!” 4:16:09 PM 6/20/03 “Ah, yes, children, it will be worth the wait....” 4:17:04 PM 6/20/03 “You disgust me, treebait. You can wait, I assure you....” 4:17:59 PM 6/20/03 “Oh yes, lots of fun for all!” 4:18:36 PM 6/20/03 “stikmon will probably wet himself. ;)” 4:19:38 PM 6/20/03 “Oh c'mon Snape, you're my favorite character!” 4:21:08 PM 6/20/03 “Actually, I'd be jumping up and down if I didn't have my favorite cat sleeping in my lap right now.” 4:21:49 PM 6/20/03 “Believe her on that one.” 6:33:07 PM 6/20/03 “I wonder who dies?” 6:49:49 PM 6/20/03 “Either Snape or Dumbledore. I guess that means Dumbledpre's ghost would be posting here from now on.” 7:03:40 PM 6/20/03 “Only 2 hours left.. gotta get going to the book store!” 9:22:34 PM 6/20/03 “It's 1:30am and just got home from the bookstore's midnight sale. I'm really freaking tired. Treebait is already downstairs reading the new HP book with no sign of letting up.” 12:52:35 AM 6/21/03 “I am going to the bookstaore tommarrow - and re-reading the last on tonight (insomnia sucks.....)” 1:18:30 AM 6/21/03 “I was up until 4:30 reading. Got up at 8:30, still reading. I'm barely functioning otherwise. I've had 2 hours of sleep. Argh. It's a very dark book.” 11:07:19 AM 6/21/03 “We went to the bookstore party last night and a toystore party today. I was dressed as Hagrid for both parties. the book store manager gave me a free book and I didn't have to wait it line with the other 800 muggles. For dressing up at the toystore party my children were allowed to attend for free. (which was $10 per child and only available to radio station winners and a handful of kids who preordered the books). I also dressed up our son as a mandrake. He wore green jammies and I attached a plastic plant to a hooded jacket (which he wore under his jammies) and pulled the hood over the top of his head. He was the hit of both parties.” 1:09:31 PM 6/21/03 “I just went and bought the book at wal-mart. Only 5 copies were left on the shelf.” 5:32:05 PM 6/21/03 Life of Inner-City Youth Saved by Harry Potter Boo “(2003-06-21) -- A 14-year-old Philadelphia boy was treated and released from a hospital this morning after being shot in the chest by a friend who wanted his new copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, according to a news release from Bloomsbury, the publisher of the book. Physicians say the boy would be dead but the bullet struck the 870-page book first, leaving the child with only minor injuries. In related news, the publisher also reports that.... -- A New Jersey woman has petitioned a state court for permission to marry a copy of the book. "If loving Harry Potter is wrong," she said, "I don't want to be right." -- Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group, agreed to a 72-hour cease fire with Israel to allow its young homicide bombers time to read the new J.K. Rowling offering. -- Political consultant Dick Morris reports that when he stands on top of a stack of all five Harry Potter books, he's almost six-feet tall. -- Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary British actor, will release a special audio version of "Order of the Phoenix" later this summer. "He has that gift with the spoken word that reminds us of Sir John Gilgud," said an unnamed Bloomsbury spokesman. -- Editors in newsrooms around the world voted unanimously to declare that the release of the new Potter book is "the most significant news story of 2003."” 6:54:23 PM 6/21/03 “I finished the book a couple hours ago. I'd start reading again, but I've got a reading induced migraine and I promised HPM he'd read it next.” 8:01:14 PM 6/21/03 “But will it fit in your backpack?” 8:25:46 PM 6/21/03 “ive not read any of the potter books (i have seen the first movie), so i cant say theyre good or bad, but i am glad that children (and adults) are getting excited about reading again. that in itself is exciting.” 9:05:48 PM 6/21/03 “You should read the books. THey are much better than the movies.” 10:45:28 PM 6/21/03 “Books are definally better than the movies..there is so much info in the books that can not really be put into a 2hr movie, or are they 3hrs..? rox” 10:51:16 PM 6/21/03 “i think when i finish the book of science fiction short stories im on, ill pick up the first harry potter book. i resisted him for a long time because i thought he was a wimpy tim hunter, but now im intrigued by all the good things ive heard from ppl whose opinion on reading i respect” 11:46:15 AM 6/22/03 “I just bought it. Fixing to read it now.” 1:43:02 PM 6/22/03 Stumprider “It'll fit in your backpack, but will have to multitask as a pillow, trowel, shelter and cook pot.” 2:20:06 PM 6/22/03 Jump to Page |  1 | 2
