If you have an interest in the Smokies you'll thoroughly enjoy this documentory about George Masa and the formation of the park. What Ansel Adams did for Yosemite, George Masa did for the Great Smokey Mountains.

It played on South Carolina ETV last night and I caught the last half of it just by accident.

Thank you, Tilt.

I thought this might be discussing the Masa (if that's right) people of Africa. Don't suppose so, eh? lol

Masa? Massai? Nice try, LOL

They showed some great photography of his, but unfortunately most of it has been lost. Be on the lookout for a small book on the Smokies by George McCoy, published in the 1930s. Masa did all of the photography but his name was dropped in later printings.

His work is still published occasionally, though sometimes it is mistakenly attributed to a man named Fisher, or Fischer (who bought Masa's negatives from his estate).
