Lionel Wilson....deadView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 8 of 8 messages posted.
Obituary “Lionel Wilson, 79, the voice of Tom Terrific, Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog, Crabby Appleton and all the other characters of the "Tom Terrific" cartoons on the Captain Kangaroo children's television show, died of pneumonia April 30 in Manhattan. "Tom Terrific", produced by Terrytoons from 1957 to 1959, followed the adventures of a young superhero who wore a funnel for a hat and could change shape at will. Each story centered on the efforts of the exuberant and wildly imaginative "greatest hero ever" to save the lazy Manfred from villians like Crabby Appleton, a meanie who was "rotten to the core" and did a bad deed every day. Mr Wilson provided the voices for numerous other cartoons, appearing most recently as Eustace in the Cartoon Network's Courage the Cowardly Dog. He also recorded dozens of children's books on tape and CD, including Wayside School Stories by Louis Sachar.” 12:29:58 PM 6/13/03 “Holy crap don't scare me like that! I saw the first name (Lionel) and my mind went crazy thinking you meant Lionel Richie! That was a close one! LOL” 12:46:48 PM 6/13/03 “Dead from Jerry Curl poisoning?” 12:47:57 PM 6/13/03 “So if Tom Terrific is dead, why is he still posting?” 12:49:40 PM 6/13/03 “I merely lost my voice.” 12:55:04 PM 6/13/03 “It sounds okay to me....” 2:59:57 PM 6/13/03 “I see you haven't lost your shadow.” 4:19:55 PM 6/13/03 “Sorry to hear this, Tom. I was hoping to meet you next weekend...” 4:51:07 PM 6/13/03
