Just because men finally have a place to talk about beer, sex, sports, and backpacking on the other site, people want to destroy it. One lamer even went as far as posting forum guidelines http://forums.backpacker.com/thread.jsp?forum=6&thread=22240 Is this how it happens? People get so pi$$ed off at backpacker.com they come over and suddenly realize how much better it is at TT? I don't post a lot over here, but I tell you what, I am entertained way more over here. I've fallen out of my seat laughing so hard at threads over here. NEVER has that happened over there. The good, funny threads must be against Rodale's policy because they always get removed. Oh well, I've almost become accustomed to expect that kind of behavior from some people. Debate can be meaningful if it is articulate and based upon sound reason. Most of the "board wars" are based upon personal preference. While a person may be able to reasonably advance why his or her personal preference is one way or the other, it is unrealistic to think that I will agree or disagree based soley upon the opinion advanced. My reasons to prefer this board are, in all liklihood, different from others who like this board. I certainly don't expect them to agree with my reasons any more or less than those who prefer the backpacker.com But, then again, is this "cyber field" much different than real life? Put any group of 200 people together where they can communicate in a means other than face to face and see what happens.
