He had an active program.

The supplies were moved to Syria.

Even a very small supply can kill millions. He was an acute threat.

He lied to inspectors.

He was under U.N. resolution, a condition of cease-fire. He broke that agreement repeatedly.

On top of that, he ruled by fear - fear of death and torture ... killing, maiming, raping family members of people who spoke out against him.

But, who are we to judge. It's a different culture, and we don't understand it.

the reason yellow cake is a concern is twofold.

first, it's a leading indicator that someone is pursuing the raw materials for a nuclear program.

second, while it would not make a good dirty bomb the "fear factor" of such device would be massive.

He no longer had an active program of Nuclear, Biological OR Chemical weapons.  Bush's own inspectors confirmed this many times.   They were finally left with saying there was "evidence of programs that could be restarted" (the famous box of papers buried under the bushes).

He gave the impression he still had those capabilities to keep his enemies at bay....   and some people still believe him.

It wasn't all "moved to Syria."   That's a talk radio pipedream.

He was not a threat to the US.   That was absolute hogwash and has been proven so time and again.   This was demonstrated to Bush and his cheerleaders many times before the invasion, yet they went ahead, squandering hundreds of thousands of lives and trillions of dollars.

Timothy McVeigh was much more of a threat.

Some people(reactionaries) have an emotional need to believe in the infallibility of government and it's agents.

To deny even one tenet of "the faith" could cause the entire fabric to unravel.

Fear must be maintained or the empire is doomed.

squandering hundreds of thousands of lives - tilt

Good to see Tilt now believes a (slightly) more realistic bodycount than his former mantra of "millions" - lol

tiltTiltBLAM - you're wrong.

You exercise very selective reading in your research, which includes a lot of revisionist history, and pandering (by Bush's team) to the left's dangerous and relentless crusade.

Saddam had an illegal WMD program, and one day you'll regret your insistance on something you know nothing about.

What you don't understand is information is more important to our national security than outward appearances, and making deals with those that have that information is a dirty job.
