So I bought a little Trangia alcohol stove and I love it. But are the pepsi can stoves any better?

I would say that if you already spent the money for the stove, don't even ask. Just enjoy your new gear.

that's true, but the pepsi one doesn't cost anything so it doesn't really matter :o)

I've used both. The Trangia is pretty much bombproof contruction. My plan is to use one for the wife and I throughout most of South America. I may be forced to get a Whisperlite, but for now the plan is the Trangia.

Conceivably, you could crush a soda stove if you weren't careful. I've dented one pretty badly before...

nanny nanny boo boo, stick your head in ....... ;)
I used my little mini-pepsi burner last week on my Smokies backpack.
Still don't understand why more people don't use them.

I was impressed with some of those designs Stove. I was won over to the whole alcohol design when I tried the Trangia out, seems the pepsi can stoves can offer a little more to the mix, at a lighter weight - although I'm crap at making things like this and will prolly end up drying in a fireball :o)

ynami - Try making one of
Jim Crandall's Mini Cat Can Stoves
.
So easy even Mapleleaf could build one without a trip to the ER. ;)

When the guys where talking about the alch stoves around the camp fire I realized that........
Are race cars run on Methanol and we used to race in some COLD a$$ weather, we used to fill a big coffee can with about 1/2 gallon of methanol and put jack stands around it ( a little protection from spilling) it would heat the 53 foot trailer wicked good.... we cracked a couple of doors, not to co2 ourselves.....
When I realized this concept is what you guys have been talking about with these pepsi stoves.
I kicked myself!
