Do you guys have any ideas?
Hey, you two may have noticed Jmitch's swimming hole trip in PA. Well, I think those Eastern bastards suck. They've always got a cool trip going on. I'm totally into a hike w/ some swimming that is in our area. I'm thinking maybe we could put something together. A 3-day wkend type deal. Maybe in late July or Aug., so the water can warm up a bit. Do either of you know of anything? Are either of you remotely interested in this idea? Personally, my ideal trip consists of walking to water and then laying around in it for the rest of the trip. Okay, okay, breaks for food and sleep. LOL! I can afford to make any of the other trips this summer, so something close would be cool.

Can not . . . can not afford is what I meant.

Everybody post to this randomly so it will stay near the top where Aero or Chief might notice it.

Sorry, I've been in a staff meeting and just saw this thread.

I've actually made a deal with Gordon and another friend (Rip) to do a weekend hike this year. It's all I can do with only two weeks vacation, a family to keep happy, and a ton of golf tourney's to particiate in.

Haven't given a whole lot of thought as to where to we will go though. It would be nice to find a hot spring that wasn't too far in, but not too populated either. AND, it has to be close enough to drive to on a Friday evening to be able to hike into.

One thought might be in the Beartooths from Island or Beartooth lake, into Beauty Lake. Would be cold swimming, but the fishing would be great!!!

So, where has Aero been, and, are you and the Iceman still an item? Not that it's any of my business, just haven't heard you mention him lately.

Lake Elmo is a large urinal Martyb. Yucky. And I wasn't trying not to include the 'ol Geezr boy. LOL.

Chief, when abouts were you planning this wkend trip? A hotspring would be the ideal. Is it open for some guests? When was the Yoho trip? Aero might be there right now.

You better be careful Rosey! Married guys aren't allowed to say that sorta' thing. LOL!

Briar, the kiddie pool is a nice offer, but I was thinking of actually hiking somewhere. Not just getting drunk and sunburnt in Aero's front lawn. LOL!

The only hotsprings I know of are on the W. side of the state or in Idaho. I guess there are hotspings in the Park, but it might not be very fun in the summer. People everywhere.

I'll be doin' a creek dippin' trip to Otter Creek Wilderness Area in late July.

There's a swimmin' hole 4.5 miles from the headwaters trailhead and 6.5 miles up from the mouth end.

That sucker is the size of an Olympic pool and eight feet deep in the middle.

The water is ice cold in August.....gotta do a flyin' leap to get in but once you get numb its fine!

Find hot springs here

I found a local hot spring near Glenwood Springs, Colo. Of course, it IS LISTED in a hot springs book. Anyhoo, it is easily accessible and there were tons of people there. Till it stormed. Then most left. The storm went through fast, then there were only 4 people soaking. I checked out the nekkid guy through my dark glasses. He only had his feet ni the water. LOL!

Whoa! I'm back- what a thread I've missed. I had to work out in the field this week, but I got to go up in the mountains.
Swimming? Around here? Brrrrrr. This is why Montana kids don't know how to swim. But we could all go over to Chico Hot springs and hit the pool!

A cool trip would be to float the river up through the Missouri Breaks. there's plenty of swimming opportunities there and the mosquitos aren't bad yet. or maybe some river rafting on the Stillwater....

OK, how about just swimming...and maybe some golf?

Me and the family will be at the KOA campground at the Big Timber waterslide Aug 8 - 10th.

For the swim, we'll do the water slide on Sat and Sun!!!

lyra

FUnny Chief . . .I gooogled it and the first hit was for the Byrds and dylan.

It is a Dylan song:

MY BACK PAGES
(Words and Music by Bob Dylan)
1964 Warner Bros. Inc
Renewed 1992 Special Rider Music

Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
"We'll meet on edges, soon," said I
Proud 'neath heated brow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, though, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

A self-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
"Equality," I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My pathway led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

I guess that the Byrds covered it at one point.

animals
The song I was thinking of was actually by the Animals

Animals
When I Was Young
The rooms were so much colder then.My father was a soldier then. And times were very hard. When I was young. When I was young.I smoked my first cigarette at ten.And for girls, I hall. When I was young. When I was young it was more important.Pain more painful, the laughter much louder, yeah. When I was young. When I was young.I met my first love at thirteen. She was brown, and I was pretty green. And I learned quite a lot. When I was young. When I was young. When I was young it was more important.Pain more painful, laughter much louder, yeah. When I was young. When I was young. My faith was so much stronger then.I believed in fellow men.And I was so much older then. When I was young. When I was young. When I was young. When I was young. When I was young.

I thought it was Dylan. I rock.

K, first, I'm not a home wrecker people! I know Aero and Chief are both happily married. I just want some hiking dudes w/ bp knowledge to hang out w/. If there were some dudettes in the area, that would be fine too.

Aero, I think the Missouri would be cool. I did the Stillwater thing last yr. The KOA and waterslide in Big Timber totally lame me out. Chief, you gotta' come up w/ a better idea than that.

I'm going to check out Lizs' hotspring finder.

Hot Spring Finder
That thing is really cool, Lizs. Unfortunately, I am not map literate. Aero . . . Chief, one of you guys should check that out and see if there are some cool ones in our area. I'm completely useless w/ the topo maps. They've got Chico and Bozeman on there and I've been to Pipestone, but we need some real hikes.

Damn, I just want to go on one tiny, little trip w/ water fun this year. I suck. I need to recruit more TTers in our area. Soon, we'll have enough members to rival those Eastern bastards. We'll have trips leaving every few days! Moooohahahahaaaaa!
