stove. go to weather.com and check the weather for grand lake, co. (i think its grand lake. whatever town is there next to the trailhead). then subtract 4 degrees of temperature for every 1000 feet above grand lake. ive been in the rockies in the summer and i would say that you will be just fine in a 20 degree bag.

OK, OK, I got this from the 'other' site.

Here is a post on how to obtain some very site specific and detailed weather conditions and forecasts. This post applies to the Sierra Nevada, but can be used for Rockies or any other location.

RMNP
The Trail Ridge road is open, snow has pretty much cleared. The high mtns may still have snow up there, like Longs Peak, but there are still other good trails.

However, there is always a chance of snow--for instance, this week temps are dropping in the northern Rocky mountain region to have highs around 50 and lows in the 30's to 20's with a 6" snow prediction.

I was in RMNP on 6-9 and 6-10. This is an easterner's point of view:

6-9 I hiked Glacier Canyon. There was intermittant snow to Mills Lake and plenty of snow above that. Just before Black Lake the trail was pretty much lost. there's a pretty cool avalanche path between Jewel and Black Lakes. I didn't use snowshoes and they would've been dead weight until the very end. Ther was alot of post-holing, though, above Mills.

6-10 I hiked Longs Peak trail to Chasm Lake. Well, almost. This trail was pretty much wide open. Very little snow and, man, what a great hike. Anyone that happens to be in the area definitely do this one. The snowfield just above Peacock Pool, after the trail junction/privy, was long and scary looking. Steep to the left, a glissade would run you a few hundred feet to boulders below. There was a path across but only about six inches wide. Not wanting to get my wife killed (right, blame her), we decided not to cross it. We intended to follow the summit trail to higher elevations, but after a lunch at trail junction the storms started coming over the mountain. We started for treeline and lightening flashes spurred us into a quick jog. We ran the trail to treeline in a hail and lightening storm but, boy, was it fun.

I suppose, unless there's been a late storm up there, that conditions are even better snow-wise. We had heard that, at the time, "the narrows" on the Longs Peak summit trail was completely iced and required tech gear. Just start early, avoid the storms. LOL.

BTW, if you've never driven Trail Ridge Road, do it. Amazing. As much as I hate there being a road cutting across the middle of the park, it was a beautiful drive.

Peace. MM.

RMNP got 12" of snow last night, which temporarily closed the Trail Ridge Road. Not sure when he was planning to visit, but I hope he's OK.
