The Very Good, Not Bad Day

“K, my peeps, I've got an update for you. Remember, if you will, that I landed a job at Abercrombie and Fitch. Mainly, I was coveting some flip-flops there and thought I might try to score them w/ my employee discount (since everything sold there is extremely over priced). Well, long story short, that job sucked real bad. I quit. On Mon. I landed a new job as a night biller for a trucking co. here in town. My schedule is perfect (wkends off). I'm w/ Newergirl during the day and Belowzero is w/ her at night. We don't have to pay the daycare lots 'o dough to raise our kid. Yeah for us! It's full-time, excellent pay, and I'll actually have ins. in 90 days (so it'll be totally cool if I break my leg or something). Plus, working w/ a night crew is always a blast. There's even a token gay office guy. He's hilarious. My first night I walked in and he was all, "Girl, you must be Angie and that is a killer belt." LOL! So, I'm very happy and I've declared today my "Very good, Not bad" day. I'm starting it w/ sleeping in and eating choco. cream pie and coffee for breakfast. Hooray!”

“hey newgirl-how do you manage the sleep thing with your new job? I have nite shift too, but now that the kids are going to be out of school, I'm not sure how great the job will seem compared to the potential sleep defecit. I expect to be a zombie all summer, but the big benefit is three day weekends! How do you handle the kid v.s. sleep thing?”

“Helinka, Newergirl and I were kinda' in "hang out" mode before I scored the job, so we were staying up late and sleeping in late. Lucky for me, 'cause it fits the bill w/ this job perfectly. Also, we nap in the late afternoon before I go to work. It's going to be hard in the fall though. We'll need to be getting up early, because I have AM classes. I guess we'll take longer afternoon naps. I realize this might not work for you though, if you have school age kids.”

“my boys promised me that they would let me sleep in every day all summer!! we'll see how long that lasts for! My shift is 4:30pm to 3am, so I do the split-shift sleep thing (3hrs after work, and 4hrs during day). So if the boys let me sleep till 11am , that will be a real treat. All week my mantra is three-day-weekend, but by thursday i'm ready for a 'normal' job.
Will you keep your nite shift when you have AM classes?”

my favorite is to send friends home,shut off all tvs and radios and start handing out chores along with the "since I have to be awake..." speech. Boys hate cleaning particularly when your standing there watching.”

DOM--I'm like that all the time, so they wouldn't notice any difference.
The first day of vacation is going suprisingly well: slept in to almost noon! no fighting between the boys!(at least none that will leave permanent scarring)and no damage to the house-these can't be MY kids! If vacation is like this all summer long, I may finally recover from the trauma of the school year (the boys got to know the office/principal very very well.)”
