“Okay, so we just need to find another place. What about the Battle of Cedar Creek campground in northwestern VA just north of the Skyline Drive and Shenandoah Valley? Small campground, has swimming, fishing, canoeing, tubing and mini-golf. Campsites are supposedly private, although the book rated the Grayson Highlands State campground as having private sites, and I thought that the tents were sardinesville. Maybe they hadn't changed the rating since the renovations were done. I have read a recommendation on this campground from another camping chat site though.”

“There is Mountain Vista Campground in East Stroudsberg which I can check out because it is close. We can hike to all the waterfalls near this area. Has swimming, boating, canoeing, is near the Del River for canoeing, rafting or kayaking there. Supposed to have private campsites and good bathrooms.”

“We need to hear from the rest of the inmates before we finalize this. Also I guess I should make a trek to check this place out, but I kinda like the fact that we can hike to the waterfalls. Mid Sept can be hot or cool, depending. But usually it is really nice in the mountains in Sept. I use the word mountain loosely, since they are vertically challenged compared to the Adirondacks and White Mountains. The waterfalls in the area are very nice, though some of them have become touristy.”

“the tree family is ok with anyplace. as long as its not more then an 3 to 4 hour ride. that gets to be pretty tough on the kids (not to mention my errr bottom)
I did like MD. it was cool to go to a state that I had never been to.
But PA or Md is fine”

“Hey just a suggestion, Ohiopyle state park in SW PA, and go whitewater rafting! Nomad and I were talking about that on the Pa-pallooza death march. There are lots of good swimming spots around the campground (short drive I think, haven't been there in years). Mapleleaf could really try out her Kayaking skills there. Class 4 rapids. The medevac chopper better be standing by. Seriously Maple people do it in these things called rubber duckies, small one man inflatable kayaks.”

It is a beautiful area and offers alot of options from Rafting to Hiking to mtn biking.”

“Mapleleaf if you can stow gear in your kayak you can do a float down the Delaware. There are islands north of the gap that you can camp on. There is also a spot on the upper Delaware where primitive camping is allowed on the PA side it is part of Delaware State Forest. The only access is from the water there is no road access. I will probably be doing a few trips on the Delaware this summer.”
