I talked to Sass this morning. I'll let Birch tell you about the race himself. I will say this, for bacpac's benefit...Yes, he finished the race. :-)

“All I can say is that the course was gawdawful and the level of attrition very high. Out of 70 teams less than 20 even finished. Many that did finish needed almost ALL of the 17 hours to do it. Many of those that did fail didn’t even make it past the 3rd leg of the race.

I haven't seen a hit that clear sense Lizs got a complement on her boots!

I never thought I'd see the day----

“The beaver story is a humorous one. My wife, Sass, Binkly and Abby were sitting around soaking up the sun waiting for Birch to come by and this state park naturalist comes walking up saying they have a bird watching hike scheduled but no one wanted to go because of the race. She was fishing for folks to go. She had this young pretty girl with her which I didn’t even notice. How did THAT happen? They moved on and then later near dusk they returned with a beaver pelt and a beaver skull. I DID notice the young girl this time. It was the naturalist’s sister. She had on a halter top that had less material then a head band and green shorts that hid nothing. The naturist said they were going on a beaver hike around the lake to see some beavers.

She flops the beaver pelt down and offers everyone a feel of it. She told her sister to have a feel too. We apologized for not being able to go on the hike and they left. Sass chirps in with some immature comment about her beaver. I was flabbergasted and outraged…that she thought of it first! LOL!

Man, I really wanted to go on that hike…”No no no Ms. Greenshorts, after YOU. I’ll just hike behind you and keep my eyes open for any beaver.””
