Anyone up for a hike in the midwest/sout h 7/11-13?

“Hey, my plans for a hike in the Smokies on July 11-13 are starting to fall through. My hiking partner aka my roommate can't decide if he wants to go backpacking or go to a concert in Columbus. I didn't see any other trips listed on the trips page that caught my eye.

So, is anyone up for a hike somewhere in the Midwest or Southern US on July 11-13 (Fri, Sat, Sun)? I'll be in SC from the 5-11, so anything close to SC or anything close to OH would be great.

I was thinking of doing another section of the Palmetto Trail (Moultrie or Marion), another hike in GSMNP, Dolly Sods, or anything in WV, VA, OH, NC or SC.

Say, Cooper Gap south to Springer?
Meet Friday midafternoon at Nimblewill Gap about two miles south of Springer on FS 28-2. Shuttle over to Cooper Gap. Backpack 4 miles south to Hawk Mt. shelter and camp Friday night, backpack about 7.6 miles to Springer Mt Saturday, and Sunday pack out the remaining two miles to Nimblewill Gap.

“Possibly stove stomper. I need to look at the logistics on when I am leaving. I might be able to meet the group at Springer Mt Sat and hike out on Sunday.”

“Report for duty? I thought the Guard was through with you?”

“Springer's easy to get to.
You can drive up the very rough FS 42 and park 0.9 miles from Springer, or drive to Nimblewill gap and climb up 2 miles to Springer.
If this trip happens, park anywhere and I'll make sure you get back to your car from Springer.”
