Go ahead and send it to me now Mike. I'll keep it for safekeeping. The rest of you can do the same.

Hmmmmmmmmm...I kinda like the idea of a troll I.D. and location feature...now I'd pay for that. How about charging a dime per character for cut-and-paste (Fiddler'd go broke)??? ;-)

I think BB's suggestions are good.

How about expanding your empire and create a www.thekayaker.com? A lot of people here would jump on it. You've done such a great job with backpacking, it'd be cool to see a similiar site with kayaking.. but I'm not sure if that's your bag.

Sell stuff....
Why don't you offer a TT retail shop, "while you're here order your stuff" ...food from Enertia, the most popular packs by TT'rs, sleepy bags, etc etc etc.

All things being equal most would by from you instead of surfing around trying to save $.29!

TT t-shirts
I like the idea about the Trail Talk t-shirts, we needed them at the recent Nashville gathering. Personally I would not want to pay and I have dial up. I don't mind the ads as long as its not the flying suitcase!

I offered matt development capital on the condition that he would allow me access to specific information.

He never replied to my email.

Screw you, matt. The deal is off.

I wouldnt mind paying like 20 bucks a year either to do it. another money making idea you could do is ask hikers permission to donate their journals (especially the educational ones) to a series of books for the aspiring hikers of specific trails and sell them thru publication on ebay....kind of like reality tv but reality hiking!!! I have been reading a slew of kick a$$ journals and stories that would make awesome books compiled...everything from marriages on the trail to devastation. Just an idea....

or even better yet....
Trail Talk the movie of 2004! Action packed, and of course extreme sexual content (this is a must for a blockbuster ya know!) and if we cant find anything extreme enough to write this bad boy ...lemme gear up and hit the trail to get you one..gimme a six month thru hike. heh. I can take reality cameras with me! hehe

Taboo braves the dirtyold man part 1
This is my lead roll hollywood! Ok act 1 starts out we are hiking and I fight off a bear to save our nuns whom we are escorting via the appalachian because they are in the witness protection program...then you jump in and save the ten children we are also accompanying from a teridactal.

I've got two TT tee's!

Now there is a movie plot. Serial murder on the long trail.

I heard of a woodworker's board that had this issue, the developer couln't keep it up as a hobby. So he does a once or twice a year fund raiser. In that crowd it works very well for him, very well I'm told. Now this tight-a$$ cheapskate crowd is probably a different story.

But I've got $20+/- a couple times a year for this, as long as it's a paperless transaction.

PS, I'm very impressed with the book store, received my Wonderland Trail Map quickly.

Here's An Idea
I like TT the way it is also. But I might consider paying for added features. Remember when "TrailTalk Today" was around? You could see the most active and recent posts and what not? Perhaps throw in some other added features like being able to edit your own posts (to correct embarrasing typos or fact errors), have more precise search options, able to make icons on posts, ect..

Just a thought.

I like the correcting typos idea. I've made some horrible ones. Ones that Lyra will never, ever let me forget.
