Then you could also say that the US and Israel have an alliance, and all the attacks that Israel has carried out have been under US auspices. Therefore, any retaliation by the arabs against the US is justified.

"The invasion of Afghanistan had the understanding and support of almost everyone in the world." ---- The understanding at that time was for the capture of Osama Bin Laden, not the de facto reason to establish an oil pipeline.

I think the Bush Cabal would prefer to have Osama Bin Laden on the loose indefinitely.

That way he remains a tool in their arsenal for fear-mongering.

But only Bush, right? Clinton letting him go was the right thing to do, but when Bush doesn't capture him, that's bad. I got it now. Thanks for straightening it out for us.

Clinton let him go??

That's just awful!!

It seems that Sept 11, 2001 should have put more urgency into hunting that rascal down.

The F.B.I. and other apporpriate agencies did pursue Al Qaida for embassy bombings and the attack on the U.S.S. Cole, for what its worth.

That however was then and this is now.

If you want to dig up the past the Reagan administration supported and facilitated Saddam Hussein in his chemical weapons attacks on Kurds and Iranian soldiers.

U.S. corporations profitted from Hussein's war against Iran in the '80s.
I reckon some of the same are now profitting from the current war against Iraq.

I seem to remember Clinton being bashed big time for his one attempt to knock of Bin Laden.

I disagree USA. If Arab nations are at war with Israel, they do not have to touch US soil to prosecute that war. Bin Laden declared and prosecuted a war agains the US from within Afghanistan, he could not be attacked without the US entering Afghanistan unless Afghanistan agreed to expel him.

I agree with MarkO. Bush benefits more from Osama bin Laden being out there than he does being caught.

I haven't read anything about construction of that trans-Afghanistan oil pipeline, solitary hiker. Is it any closer to being a reality than it was before our invasion?

Ped...Clinton taking action against Bin Laden????? OH thats right hitting a command center in the middle of the night and an aspirin factory in Sudan...that's response. LOL. With the Socialists it is always the BUILDINGS and THE SYMBOLS OF GOVERNMENT...not the people who count.

How many aspirin factories also manufacture VX?

From the 9-11 Commision Final Report (pages 116-117): The CIA reported that a soil sample from the vicinity of the al Shifa plant had tested positive for EMPTA,a precursor chemical forVX,a nerve gas whose lone use was for mass killing. http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/22jul20041130/www.gpoaccess.gov/911/pdf/sec4.pdf

Even if the aspirin factory was a legit target, it was an impotent pinprick strike by an appeasing imbecile in a wag-the-dog moment of desperation.

Funny verbiage choice there mutt. Gingrich also dismissed them as "pinpricks", that was... after he was for them (middle of page 117).

... and then further on (page 118) the commision concluded that "The failure of the strikes, the “wag the dog” slur, the intense partisanship of the period, and the nature of the al Shifa evidence likely had a cumulative effect on future decisions about the use of force against Bin Ladin.

So we have your guys to thank for the failure to take more aggresive action against bin Laden pre 9-11. Thanks a lot.

Both sides were at fault, but that doesn't change what I said about Clinton. If he would've had a meaningful strategy, then things would've been different.

Violin, remember WHY the bombing happened....? Seems to me the Chief Law Enforcement officer in the nation was trying to cover up the fact that he had committed perjury to obstruct the right of another American Citizen to get a fair trial.

This kinda flys in the face of Art 2 Section 1 of the Constitution.

In an interview with Fox News, Bush said he hopes DeLay will be cleared of charges that he illegally steered corporate money into campaigns for the Texas legislature and will reclaim his powerful leadership position in Congress.

"I hope that he will, 'cause I like him, and plus, when he's over there, we get our votes through the House," Bush told Fox News's Brit Hume. DeLay was forced to step down as majority leader after he was indicted in the fundraising case, and he is seeking a quick trial in hopes of returning to power early next year.

Actually the record shows that Clinton was persuaded by Richard Clark and others that Bin Laden needed getting and he made a direct attempt to off him in Afghanistan.

Mutt is right though, both parties are to blame for what followed. The Republicans jumped on the failure as an opportunity to accuse Clinton of a pathetic attempt to distract from the real issues and Clinton - battling impeachment - wasn't willing to risk further political damage by supporting further strikes at Bin Laden.

No heroes in this story.

You are right THERE WERE ONLY TWO HEROES IN THAT ADMINISTRATION (the 42 administration) Gary Ivan Gordon, and Randall David Shughart

I am keeping score for the Socialists Liberals...okay we started with "the seriousness of the charges trumps the need for evidence" Then in the 42nd administration it was," We really need positive proof before we even accuse."
Then we went back to the Seriousness of the Charges....so. which way is the wind blowing for you guys now?

The Liberal left and loony libbys are just trying trying to smear Bush with disinformation it turns out. I have more proof of how far they will go to spread disinformation. Read this and learn what the truth really is!
