We’re be heading out next weekend and it’s supposed to get reely hot. What’s the best air conditioner for a 9 by 12 tent? Where can I get a good deal?

The best air conditioner is elevation. The second best one is to wait til December.

Ditto what dayhiker said. I was going to say a nice cool evening breeze at about 9500'.

What's the power output on the generator you'll be bringing?

No, I take that back... Artex just reminded me of something.

My ex girlfriend had the coldest butt east of the Mississippi, BAR NONE. No Contest!

I could give you an example of just How Cold but the thread would be deleted.

Sharp makes some good lighter weight AC units. About 4000-5000 BTU are best.
The weight of the dang extension cords still slows me down a lot though.

Did it involve a retreat?

For my beloved CAR CAMPING (where are ya to heckle me, Binks??!), I picked up a portable tent fan by Coleman. Runs on batteries ... hehee, I said "batteries"... actually I think it's one battery. It has a magnet so you could put in on wall of tent. But it's too heavy for a backpacking tent.

Still, you could just sit it on the floor to stir up the air. WHEN CAR CAMPING!! sheesh.... Also, it has plastic blades that won't chop off a finger if accidentally touching the blades.

I've heard that the chemical properties of a white gas burning stove will produce a cooling effect if you burn it inside a well sealed tent, the less air available for the stove the cooler it will get inside the tent.

(i do not take responsiblility for any injuries incurred during this process)

Seems ya all forgot about the current bush located at may sites below the tree line! You just plant your tent close enough to the current bush for the AC or fan cord to reach!

Sheesh, such poor memories! ;-)

Pitch it in your living room and turn up the AC.You'll save gas.

Yeah... RETREAT, LOL

Hey, 3 or 4 of these, and "Whatcha" might be in business. You might want to use dry ice instead of the usual....

After carefully studying lizs' post, I understand why she car camps more than backpacks.

Her tent must have metal walls.
