“just watched disk 1 of season 1 of the xfiles dvd. good stuff. i can see why a nation of nerds (and i mean that in the nicest way possible) was hooked for so many years. i get the impression, however, that this show jumped the shark around the time duchovny started getting too big of a head.”

“as a proud XF nerd, and a remarkably sane one, i confess the show started getting much less enjoyable around the 6th season. by the end, i as only watching out of loyalty and morbid curiosity, with only the teensiest bit of hope that they'd end it well. alas, they didn't.”

“where in the timeline does the movie fit in?”

“IIRC, it's between season 5 & 6... yeah, that's it. the show was really peaking then - i think seasons 3, 4 & 5 were the best. even 6 was good, but looking back now i see it was the beginning of the decline. wow, i'm still a geek!”
