Democrat Candidates Race for Saddam Reward Money
(2003-07-03) -- Almost all of the 37 Democrat candidates for president boarded Baghdad-bound planes this afternoon, eager to stuff their campaign warchests with the $40 million in reward money the U.S. has offered for help in capturing Saddam Hussein and his sons.
DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe said even if a Democrat candidate captures Saddam, the money won't be enough to catch up to George Bush, who has raised $7,000 bazillion dollars so far. But with typical Democrat optimism, the candidates would not be deterred.
Gov. Howard Dean took along several dozen campaign volunteers who call themselves McGovern's Militia. Once on the ground in Iraq, they plan to start a website and a grassroots campaign, according to one, "if we can find some grass out there in the desert."
Senator John Kerry, a professional Vietnam veteran, dressed in full camo and slung a semi-automatic rifle over his shoulder. His wife, Teresa Heinz, gave him two weeks allowance, and kissed his forehead.
Rep. Dick Gephardt didn't personally go to Iraq, but he issued an executive order demanding that Saddam call the Missouri lawmaker's office.

Of course the truth of the matter is that the nine "maybe" candidates collectively raised more money in the second quarter than little George did. Not that you'll fid any mention of this in the "liberal media".

I thought it was a bad thing to be able to raise lots of money. Whatever happened to campaign finance reform?
