I had a great time!
I went to my hometown and BBQed w/ the family. My brother-in-law and my dad built sparkler bombs (always funny to see your dad run for his life from the flaming creation he's created). Then we took our little ones to see the parade. I saw two kids I used to nanny, driving hot rods (spinning their tires and everything) in the parade. The boy graduated this past spring. Man, that made me feel old. The babysitter arrived at 9, we said goodnight to the folks and headed out on the town. Good times! In my hometown, more people come home for the 3rd and 4th, then do on Turkey Day or X-mas. It was good to see old faces.

So, what kinda' fun did all you peeps have this 4th? Who went bping? Did anyone suffer a firecracker wound?

We had a party over at my house. My family, my sis-in-law and her spawn, my mother and her husband, one of my brothers (not the husband of my sis-in-law), my mom's husband's son, my grandmother, and one of my mom's sisters all came over. My mom's husband smoked some pork shoulders and made pulled pork barbeque. I made a cheesecake and grilled hotdogs for the kids, plus I made the vinegar hot sauce for the barbeque. We ate, and then my brother and I sat under my carport and smoked and drank and talked till the wee hours. It was a good Fourth.

We took Laurel to the beach to see the fireworks. There were so many people setting off their own you couldn't see the city's display, it was so smoky. It made everywhere here seem foggy. Laurel was not afraid, in fact she fell asleep even though people 40 feet from us were setting off boomers, screamers, and this weird one that sounded like a siamese cat in heat.

I went to a party at my bosses house which sucked cause I had to work that night and she had some major alcohol at this party. It was like dropping a kid in the willy wonka factory..although I like newgirl's idea..watching your dad run for his life. That would be great. Im going to call my old man now. Oh yah and my neighbor got arrested for lighting of m80's in the middle of the city. Only people who live in a firework legal city could possibly get arrested for illegal fireworks. sheeesh

I went to a real "down home" parade - complete with about 20 old tractors - Co-op, Allis Chalmers, and plenty of old-time John Deere models. My niece got to ride on an old fire engine with her dance class and throw candy to the crowd. It was a lot of fun. After that, we headed to my parent's house, picked them up, and headed to my cousin's house for a BBQ, celebrated my birthday, and watched the fireworks on the lake. It was awesome to see fireworks coming from 12 different directions, and about 40 boats on the lake. Way cool!

My 4th, gosh that was a long time ago, but I do still remember,...fondly.

We had a yard that was about 1/2 acre back to the railway lines, a couple of big trees, the family car was parked under one and the dog kennel was under the other. The dog's name was Judy, and the cat was Smokey. We moved house before my 5th.

or perhaps my 4th girlfriend, that was a long time ago too, but I still do remember.

Still on 1st wife, 20th anniversary in 16 days.

My Sister and her family from Houston visited us in AL on the 4th. We grilled food, made ice cream, drank beer, and had a huge fireworks display in my front yard.

Good times !

I was, believe it or not, backpacking! It was great, except for the mosquitos.... And the part about not reaching the summit.... And then there was that darn navigational error....

lmao Manuka!

I hiked a local trail and picked up garbage in the morning and then went to my family picnic. Man, there were a ton of little kids there!

Everybody asked why I didn't have a girlfriend, where I've been the past 8 years, why I wasn't married, and commented on how much I've grown. It was everything I've tried to avoid for the past 8 years, but still a much fun.

I had a good 4th. Biked to the local nature trail w/ my dad. Ran the trail. Biked back.

Went out to breakfast w/ dad and ran a couple errands.

Took a short nap.

Watched a heavy duty storm from the house. 60+mph winds.

Took another short nap.

Helped a friend w/ some yard work.

Drank a couple beers.

Watched fireworks from my roof.

We had a pretty good 4th. G00SE worked on the wall (cue Pink Floyd) most of the day and I puttered about and was a lazy bum. Then we went down to downtown Augusta, scored some really good barbeque and watched the fireworks over the river. The military band was fantastic and the cannons were awesome. I missed Sauron horribly but at least he'll be coming home next weekend.

All in all, it was pretty decent.

Woke up early to hang the flag on the front porch. We had a family party at our house. After the party, we continued the tradition of walking to the park to watch the fireworks exploding over the Kansas river.
Good friends, family, food, and fireworks.

Cards, fireworks and a geocache from holy hell. (Did I mention that tree that fell over and could have killed us?? Yes, it does make noise... then again, we were there to hear. hmmmm...)

But we found the cache. :-)

Well we start BBQing on the 3rd with an even bigger cookout than on the 4th. We cooked fish, had ribs on the grill, Brats, hot wings, corn and potatos. While grilling we snacked on shrimp and chips and salsa. On the 4th I went down to see my grandmother and we had BBQ and all the trimmings there. Then I went back to pull the BBQ off the pit at Breeze Brothers (Yes he got his name from the Lynyrd Skynyrd song). I could hardly eat another bite. Big horseshoe tournament, we even have trophys. And a bomb of a fireworks show at the end. Always the best holiday of mine.

It sucked. My wife's best freind of 20 some years lost her mother to a stroke. So the wife was off comforting her freind all weekend. On top of that I get the holdidays off just every five years and the fireworks got rained out.

The insurance adjuster was nice (fair) to us. It was a good holiday! We went to Greenfield village and had a great time. Sat out a fast but furious storm on the carosel. We returned home to find trees on our house, but many sweet people lent a hand, including Tarabull (that was the yard work, lol). It's all cleaned up and we should do well getting everything repaired. The house should get a new paint job too!
