“I'm heading by road from WI to Mt. Washington at the end of July. Does anyone have any tips or helpful hints. I've never been there, just wanted to see what you folks have to say.” 9:38:29 AM 7/09/03 “Find the tallest cliff...jump.” 9:58:54 AM 7/09/03 “you'd really have to show me...” 10:22:30 AM 7/09/03 “I haven't been there 13fist, but I hear that it's very windy.” 11:37:41 AM 7/09/03 “Even in July take a fleece pullover, light gloves and rain gear even if it looks clear. The weather changes fast up there. It will be just a little more crowded than a good sized mall.” 1:43:28 PM 7/09/03 “Mt. Washington in NH?” 1:44:33 PM 7/09/03 “Wander around long enough you'll find the enterance to the underground city the gov't has there.” 1:45:37 PM 7/09/03 “What's your road trip route? I can give you a list of things to see for Vt/NH. Are you going to dayhike or backpack Mt. Washington? How long are you going to be there?” 1:59:59 PM 7/09/03 “Be sure to moon to Cog Railway train.” 5:50:40 PM 7/09/03 “I have 10 days to get from Wisconsin to NH and back. Other than that I haven't made any real plans. Just where the road takes me” 2:40:07 PM 7/10/03 “you'd really have to show me..." 13fist 10:22:30 AM 07/09/03 great comeback :) hi, wish I could help. just loved you comeback!!” 2:44:47 PM 7/10/03 “Hey Thanks, Mapleleaf” 3:03:07 PM 7/10/03 “I have a couple pieces of advice: 1) If you want to climb Washington, be sure to have an alternate plan. If the weather is awful up there, you will want to be elsewhere. 2) Be prepared for crowds. Washington is a popular climb and there is a road and a railway that go to the peak. 3) There aren't legal places to spend the night above tree line and much of it isn't safe for overnights so plan your trip carefully. 4) There are lots of good sources of infor for Mt. Washington and the White Mountains. It's worth looking at this whole website: http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/whites/washington.html" target="_blank"> Dave Metsky’s Mt. Washington page but definitely look at this page and follow the links. The same goes for http://home.earthlink.net/~ellozy/washington.html " target="_blank"> Mohammed Ellozy’s Mt. Washington page 6) Check out Twinkle Toes' Pemi Loop trip for a great backpacking trip you could do in the area. 7) A really fun and Challenging trail to take up to the Presi ridge (or down) is "The Six Husbands Trail." Mad River has a thread on TT ("You might find this interesting") about someone who whined when he found out the trail was tough.” 3:15:55 PM 7/10/03
