Y2: Mr. Bang is not a "youngin", even though he acts like it at times.

BearMagnet: It is FACT that people are influenced by their surroundings / what they see / hear, etc., so before you get too far down the road of people being "uptight", maybe you should educate yourself a little. There are valid reasons that many don't want their kids exposed to elements they can't control. There is certainly enough that one cannot control, certainly one should be able to say "NO" to a neighbor erecting an erect snow-#&%!$.

Y2, you're critisizing me for something that doesn't exist.

I REMOVED the post in question within 10-15 seconds because I realized it would come across very different from what I intended and would make no positive point.

How about getting back to the central point... don't people have a right NOT to be exposed to blatantly obnoxious things? It IS NOT one's right to do whatever they want if they're totally insensitive to / oblivious to, the feelings of others with whom they share this planet.

That's just called being a good citizen of this planet... trying to work & play well with others.

I once called you "passionate" about your debating style, wanderer. I was being nice.

You're a self-righteous #&%!$.

Ain't gonna be able to protect your kids from everything unless you lock them up.

For example:

I remember playing Doctor as a very young child.

Pretty sure I never saw an erect snowman. I'm pretty sure I wasn't "corrupted" by cable or video games - didn't exist yet. Had no Molesting adults around me.

If we had gotten caugth what was little suzy's dad gonna blame it on??????

Nothing. Now, we have something. Right?

I'm damn sure an erect snow-#&%!$ is not gonna have any effect on a child. If they react to it then they already know. If they know, then what is the issue?

Ooh, I know. They might think it's OK to draw #&%!$es, to make snow-#&%!$es. From there on it's just a slippery slope to your child becoming a degenerate loser, aye? A molester, perhaps?

in all seriousness, i dont have a problem with the cock being knocked down. it was in bad taste. i just thought it illustrated a larger point.

but no kid is going to be traumatized by that. its barely recognizable. the worse that could happen is youll be terribly embarassed. big deal. the problem is the severe stigma placed on sex and sexual anatomy. talk to anyone who grew up on a farm (or a nudist colony) and see that theyve got the least hangups about sex than anyone.

figures we'd turn a fun thread into fuego. this one wasnt even fiddle-boys fault
Crash Bang

And someone pissed in my Raisan Bran today. Thursday's are always bad for me.

The other problem is kids learn somethings "bad" by adults reaction. Someone says "#&%!$" around a child. If the child has no idea what it means then it won't react. Unless the adults react.

Then "#&%!$" becomes every other word out of it's mouth.

Don't worry too much wanderer, what's the worst thing your kids could learn? How to be disrespectful to the opposite sex. Become sex offenders? Have no limits to sexual morality? (tongue in cheek)

I rarely respond to this kind of thread but find it ironic and less than amusing that most of society complains about how parents are raising kids these days. Especially those that aren't raising children. I can imagine no parent that I know who would "erect" such a monument.

BearMagnet, your responses indicate that you are a self-proclaimned expert about things of which you know very little, if anything, about. One cannot intelligently debate with someone of such a low knowledge level, especially if that individual proclaims to know what they're talking about and refuses to enter the debate with an open mind.

CB, you've missed most of the point of the discussion, it is not at all about people being "traumatized", it is about common decency and our ability as a society to not have to see grossly obscene images that we chosse bot to see. Your inability to discern that simple fact indicates that a debate with you, someone too intellectually challenged to even understand the core issue, would be fruitless.

Good luck with your lives, gentlemen.

FWIW, the junior high kids made a 6-foot tall nekkid snow woman in front of my elementary school. Anatomically correct. It was seated and came complete with long legs spread wide apart. This was back before cable TV, but Pong was the reigning video game.

I don't remember what happened to it. I think it didn't get knocked down right away because it was set up on a weekend.

I’m all for having rights but I don’t get why everyone seems hellbent on expressing their rights at the expense of others in the form of purposely disrespecting others and being as immoral as possible.

Scratch that, I get it. It’s the same in real life as it is for trolls on the internet. They want reaction of any kind, be it positive or negative. Pretty childish if ya ask me but hey, that’s just me. Me? I get very red faced embarrassed when I put my foot in my mouth and disrespect someone in real life. You’d be amazed how docile I really am.

My daughter asked me two questions recently...

1) what is gay (I answered happy)
2) what is a boner ( I told her it was a grown up word that she is not to use, she isnt five yet, it was on the radio and it caught me off guard)

If that were my neighbor I wouldnt get worked up at all. I know my neighbors well enough that I would simply remind him of all the kids who live in our hood. But my neighbors are also classy enough not to do so.

Ah! This thread brings back memories! LOL!

i got me a sausage stuffer attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer and am on the hunt for good recipes. I went to Gander Mountain and got a kit with cure, spice mix and casings for 24 pounds for $10!

I also found a good site that has a spreadsheet that changes the whole recipe based on the pounds of meat ya have to do. The recipes look pretty good. I'm getting ready to do some brauts made with 4 pounds venison, 1 pound pork and 1 pound turkey. Once they are stuffed I'm doing them on the smoker tomorrow.

Anyone else make their own sausage and if so what's your favorite recipe?

mmmmm, my grandparents used to make sausage every fall when I was little. My uncle raised a few hogs each year and every october we'd have a good ole'fashioned hog killin and hang hams in the smokehouse, make sausage, and yes even chitlins and lard. Growing up country was kool!
